EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND

Senior OS and Infrastructure Engineer -- Wells-Fargo, Minneapolis, MN (8/2013 - 9/2023)

Wrote scripts to export data from Service Now to SharePoint as part of a project to automate updating of the WebATM team calendar. Monitored other web-based applications (Netcool, Splunk, BigPanda, AppDynamics) for alerts and notified the appropriate groups and individuals when needed.

As a member of the SSG-Unix team at Wells-Fargo I wrote and maintained shell scripts (bash, ksh, Python) for management and distribution of Wells-Fargo's teller software packages in a version control environment using CVS and Subversion, running under Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5/6. Wrote and distributed operating system update/upgrade packages to 6000+ servers using RedHat Package Manager (RPM). Provisioned Linux-based virtual machines using Vmware/VSphere. Configured and maintained web-based patch tracking of remote Linux servers. Assisted field technicians in troubleshooting Linux server hardware and software issues. Managed Vendor Certification Lab in Minneapolis for testing of hardware and software solutions. Management and support of servers in Wells-Fargo branch offices using HP iLO management system.

Note:

I left Wells-Fargo as a result of a company-wide layoff in September 2023. Since then I have provided care for an elderly family member, which explains the recent gap in my work history. That situation has stabilized and I am now available for full time employment.

Systems and Web Administrator -- University of Minnesota, Law School, Minneapolis, MN (1/2010 - 4/2013)

System Administration: System installation and administration, initially with Windows NT and Microsoft IIS, then migrating to Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP ("LAMP") and Perl. Created and maintained automated data backups and reporting using Perl and Shell scripts. Compiled, installed and maintained system-level software. Configured firewalls and security software. Diagnosed and repaired network issues as needed.

Web Administration: Created and managed the Law School website, lead web administration team. Authored and maintained content and RSS feeds for several websites hosted by the Law School using HTML, JAVA, JavaScript, and CSS. Integrated multimedia content on these websites using third-party media streaming providers like Ustream and Livestream. I gained experience in a wide range of authoring tools (Adobe Pagemill, MS Frontpage, Dreamweaver) and content management systems (WebGUI, Drupal, WordPress). Planned and executed a migration of the Law School's servers from a set of physical, rack-mounted systems to virtual machines. Managed these VM's using the VMWare vSphere client. Managed Law School Internet domains and workgroups using QIP and the University's Service Gateway software.

Software Development: Authored the first web-based room reservation system used by the Law School, initially in JAVA then migrating to PHP and MySQL. Integrated this system with the Law School's online Calendar, which I also created. Created technical documentation for both I.T. staff and end-user support. Assisted the Helpdesk installing and deploying desktop operating systems (Windows/Macintosh), application software and with end-user support.

Desktop Support: Provided support for Windows and Macintosh desktops in a Microsoft Active Directory environment.
