Resume:

HONDA BHYAT

JAN **, ****

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

As you will see from my attached resume, I have many decades of relevant experience with Mainframe, OLTP’s, Middleware and Integration technologies.

I started my career on a 360/30 MF back in the early 1970’s. I worked as a Systems Programmer on various MF OS’s, I was an Assembler CICS, Cobol Batch, Cobol CICS, and Cobol IMS (programmer and Systems Programmer, but my 1st “Love” was that of a CICS Systems Programmer and Architect.

I worked for IBM for many years, spent time at the Hursley Laboratory, working with MQ and was an external Advisor to CICS/TS, MQ and IIB development teams as they built out requirements for new versions.

My 2nd Love is MQ, IBM’s Middleware and Integration software such as ACE (previously IIB or WMB), and the last few years I have worked with ITX (IBM Transformation Extender) on various EDI HC integration and Modernization Projects.

While with IBM here in the US I was part of a Worldwide Tiger Team responsible for IBM Middleware and Integration business and have been all around the world helping customers with Integration and MF Modernization and Architectures projects.

I pride myself as a technologist and am always learning about all the latest technologies which I run in my home lab to gain experience and stay current to better my understanding and formulate strategies on how to apply these new solutions.

As a hobby, I run the Hercules / TK5 Mainframe emulator (MVS 3.8) in my home lab to stay involved. While I was with IBM, I had access to the full z/OS software (zPDT Software) which allowed me to stand up to my very own fully loaded z/OS environment in my Lab.

I am very passionate about Middleware and Integration and am a keen learner of new Programming Languages, My latest interest is with the Python, as that is also now available on z/OS and I am very impressed with its capability which I suspect will help to accelerate the modernization of the MF since it is so powerful and has many AI, Integration and Data Science capabilities which applied to the MF can result in significant cost savings while improving productivity and automation capabilities.

I am also current and experienced in Container / Cloud and Virtual Machine type technologies which I use extensively in my Home Lab. In closing I look forward to hearing from you so that we can discuss my fitness for this position.

Sincerely,

Honda Bhyat

TECHNICAL SUMMARY

With 50 years of IT experience, Mr. Bhyat has held numerous high-profile technical positions in software and services companies. Most recently he was employed with Prolifics where he was part of Integration Practice as the Lead Architect.

Previously he was with IBM in the Americas where he was a Global Tiger Team Connectivity member as a subject matter expert for all things related to IBM MQ Advance, IBM App Connect Enterprise) ACE) and IBM Transformation Extender Advanced and B2B EDI Processing (ITXA).

In both these positions he played multiple roles including pre-sales, consulting, and principal evangelist and he regularly performed as part of a PoC team to win critical Connectivity team deals.

Before IBM, Mr. Bhyat was the Chief Architect at IBM Business Partner Commerce Quest where he was the driving force behind products such as PM4Data & PM4CICS which provided simplified Web Services based integration with CICS from any MQ platform.

Commerce Quest was one of the earliest adopters of WMQ and provided expert consulting services on many large customer implementations. Commerce Quest was also the initial thought-leader of managed file transfer over a message and queuing infrastructure, and Mr. Bhyat was the prime visionary. He was involved in the initial architecture and implementation of this product, as well as consulting many large customers with their mission-critical deployments.

“Honda” as he is typically called because of his unique name, comes from a Systems Programming background in z/OS and is very much a “Transaction Systems” type individual, and while his first “love” is CICS, he became involved in MQ (aka MQSeries) while he worked at IBM South Africa where he was a Team lead for Transactions Systems Solutions when MQSeries was first launched in 1992.

All throughout the 1990’s Honda was involved in hundreds of transactional messaging-based solutions which included EAI, Workflow and Managed File Transfer (MFT) type products. His current major focus and passion is messaging-based MFT & Enterprise Service Bus solutions which include products such as base MQ Advance, App Connect Enterprise and MQ/MFT, ITX and ITX Advanced.
