December 2013

The Nicholas Z. Johnson Safety award is a reward of safety that started in our company in 2012. The award is named after our co-worker we lost while in an active work zone that was hit and killed by a drunk driver that came thru the work zone and struck him while working on I-20 west bound just at the Saluda River bridge in Lexington county. The section of that roadway is named after him in honor of his dedication. The award recognizes the employee that practices good safety measures throughout the year going the extra mile to stay safe and keeping others safe while working the roadways. It was a great honor for me to recieve.

I attended York Technical College for a Heavy Equipment Training Program for six weeks of training on a backhoe, trackhoe, (excavator) front end loader, and bulldozer. While working at South Carolina Department of Transportation we are required in my position to be able to use fork lifts (gas and diesel) to load various amounts of different materials onto trucks using these fork lifts. I just wanna give some info about me as a person. I consider myself to be a very hard working and very dependable person to count on to be there. I am a very friendly people oriented person that gets along well with others and that has experience on how to deal with the public very well.
