Deputy, Commander, Submarine Squadron Twelve Groton, CT Sep 2019 – Jan 2022 Engineering Project Manager reporting to the Commodore and various external entities. Responsible for the engineering readiness and training of 20 assigned submarines ensuring regulatory and nuclear program requirements were maintained as the lead inspector in the executed audits and inspections. Eight of which were in extended drydock availabilities in Portsmouth, NH and Groton, CT. Oversaw four dual reactor primary media discharges, four primary and secondary relief valve testing and associated compartment testing. Oversaw the efforts of Squadron Department Heads in ensuring that appropriate resources were allocated to make assigned submarines materially ready to deploy on schedule, in a sustainable material condition with no restrictions on employment. Director, Nuclear Power School Charleston, SC Dec 2014 – Mar 2019 Overall responsible for the performance of approximately 200 staff and 2500 officers and enlisted students. Hand-picked by the Director of the Nuclear Propulsion Program for assignment to the Nuclear Power School. Project Manager for the replacement of a 50-year-old program curriculum leading to 11.5% reduction in overall attrition. Developed a Character Resiliency continuum to train and counsel staff and students increasing their resiliency and greatly reducing overall program attrition throughout the fleet. Executive officer, USS TOLEDO (SSN-769) Groton, CT Dec 2012 – Dec 2014 The project manager and overseer of the Radiation Health and Safety Program onboard as well as the ship wide Training Program. As second in command, exercised leadership and mentorship skills facilitating the professional growth of future operators and submariners. Maintained the morale and welfare of the crew through an 18 month Drydock Extended Maintenance Availability. Maintained the 14-division crew level of knowledge and proficiency ensuring a seamless transition returning the ship to at-sea operations. Executive Officer, Moored Training Ship (MTS-635) Charleston, SC Jun 2010 - Jun 2012 Plant Manager - responsible for the training, maintenance and operations of a 50-year-old nuclear shore-based reactor training platform plant with over 300 staff members between five rotating crews. Managed the planning and conduct of an open ocean manned tow to Norfolk, VA, a dry-docking period, and return tow (a once every 12-year evolution). Worked with multiple external agencies providing direct reports to Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Naval Reactors and various contractors to complete maintenance around a demanding ship training schedule and providing logistical reports to superiors.
