SUMMARY:

Mr. Rogers has over 35 years of networking experience in the Internet, TCP/IP, network architecture, design, engineering and implementation. He has worked with most UNIX-like variants including AT&T UNIX, IBM AIX, Digital UNIX, HP-UX, SCO UNIX/XENIX, SUN Solaris and SUNOS, BSDi, FreeBSD LINUX (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, embedded, etc.) during most of this time, as well as various Windows Systems. He is also familiar with Virtualization using Hyper-V, VMWare and VirtualBox.

He has been working with one form of LINUX/UNIX since 1983. In the late 1991/1092 as a member of the center-wide networking group at NASA/GSFC, Mr. Rogers assisted the CESDIS group in implementing LINUX on low-cost systems for data processing of acquired data.

Mr. Rogers also has over 25 years’ experience setting up and maintaining personal computers with Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP, and 20 years total Microsoft experience from Win 3.x through 98 SE and Me.

Most Recent was with Mantech, supporting CYBERCOM Cyber & Space.

Prior to Mantech, employment was with Peraton, Inc. supporting ARMY INSCOM ARCYBER at the Joint Mission Operations Center Security Operation Center – Defensive Cyber Operations.

In the past, Mr. Rogers has been responsible for a mobility lab at DISA to include Windows 2019 and earlier. A mobility lab had been compromised in Dec. 2019, and Mr. Rogers and a team member completely rebuilt the lab on new equipment, including the Windows 2019 Active Directory domain controllers, File servers, basic switch and router configuration, and some Cisco ASA firewall configurations. He also completed the Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) checklists and ACAS (NESSUS) scans for these systems and Red hat Enterprise Linux systems.

Mr. Rogers has a good knowledge of SQL (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL) and programming in BASH, C, DOS, JavaScript, PERL, PHP and Python. He has experience in most variations of LINUX/UNIX systems security, network systems security, network and system management as well as NOC operations. Mr. Rogers has worked as both a consultant and an employee and is comfortable in either role. He has a CompTIA Security+ certification and has been a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

Mr. Rogers also has had Cisco Security Specialty certifications and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP 2001-2012). He has experience in intrusion detection and systems penetration. He has been a frequent lecturer on the Internet, Networking, and Security. Mr. Rogers has performed several Network Security Assessments and enjoys teaching as well as writing.

Mr. Rogers is a proficient in programming in various Shell scripting languages for UNIX/LINUX, including Shell, PERL, and PHP, as well as MySQL and PostgreSQL. He is very familiar with producing Web pages manually, with PERL/PHP, and raw HTML. He can read Python and with help from Google, write it. He can also do some C programming.

For the past decade, most of his work has revolved around using Virtualization and Mr. Rogers is very VMWare literate, including some NSX.

Significant Accomplishments:

Designed, developed and implanted a web-based PERL/CGI management system using MySQL as a back end to manage the network information and customer data called the “NOCDB”. The NOCDB also tracks subnet and IP address usage and generates the reverse DNS. Forward DNS with a customer interface is almost complete. This system was also able to program the routers and switches using SNMP and/or PERL with Expect. Enhanced the user interface using PHP.

Wrote an SNMP bandwidth tracking system in PERL using MySQL. Tracks bandwidth utilization by Switch/Port and summarizes it by customer/server. Enhanced the administrative interface using PHP. The polling program and daily summarization runs from CRON.

One of the original co- founders of SkyNetWEB and lead network systems architect. Affinity Internet purchased SkyNetWEB in May 2000. Hired by Affinity Internet, Inc. as a full-time network engineer/architect in July 2000. The NOCDB was written by me for SkyNetWEB prior to it’s being SkyNetWEB or being sold to Affinity and remains by property, although Affinity acquired a right to use.
