Broward Sheriff’s Office, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 09/2000 – 03/2014 Crime Lab Technical Analyst. Responsible for all technical operations of the Drug Analysis Unit. Wrote and updated the Drug Analysis Unit Standard Operating Procedures. Provided technical reviews of Drug Analysts’ work materials, involving the analysis of controlled substances before analytic reports can be released. Conducted monthly performance reviews of all Drug Analysts in the Unit. Testified in court regarding the technical procedures and operations of the Drug Analysis Unit.
Broward Sheriff’s Office, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 01/1982 – 03/2014 Criminalist II, Drug Analysis Unit. Performed analyses on Controlled Substance evidence, which was submitted by police agencies to the Crime Lab, using instruments including GC/MS, GC/FTIR, UV and microscopy techniques. Prepared written reports for police agencies and state attorneys, based on the findings of analyses performed on evidence. Testified in court cases regarding the results of testing performed on relevant evidence. Determined accurate gross and net weights of evidentiary materials, such as powders, pill and plant materials. Precision Environmental Laboratory, Miramar, Florida 03/1996 – 11/2004 Night Laboratory Manager. Responsible for the management of 15 technical employees on the evening shift. Conducted organic analyses on water, soil and air samples, using GC/MS. Samples were submitted to the lab by various clients to determine and track their compliance with environmental regulations.
