Georgia Ports Authority, Port Wentworth, Ga — Equipment Operator

August 2022 - February 2025

I worked many different types of equipment during my time at the port including a jockey truck, empty handler, toplift and more. During this time I became a great problem solver, adaptive to new environments, great communication, and an even greater work ethic. I also was a foreman for a short period of time, had a team of 20 people, coordinating work in the automotive area of the port.

Stokes Contracting, Port Wentworth, Ga — Contractor

December 2021 - August 2022

Here I learned many different skills like scaffolding, pressure washing, cleaning out large tanks, maintenance, and general problem solving skills required to finish the job. I like to say this job was where my great career started, and where I gained many of my strengths including tenacity. I operated a few pieces of machinery including a forklift, crawler loader, bobcat, and a dump truck.

At this school I was driven to succeed and find a purpose. I learned a lot about what path I wanted to take and it helped me grow as a person all around.

I had found a new career path I wanted to start and I gained this first certification. Through it I learned all the fundamentals of cyber security, networking, and using programming languages and more. The tools that I have learned to use are Linux and SQL.
