LEAD NETWORK ENGINEER – (REMOTE)
Support the United States Department of the Interior (DOI) Managed Network Services (MNS) team on various infrastructure projects, assisting all DOI bureaus in managing core infrastructure and developing a future-focused strategic roadmap. Responsible for deploying and supporting new hardware, software, and technology across DOI’s network of over 70,000 end users spanning 13 technical bureaus and multiple offices.
Key Projects:
IPv6 Implementation:
Served as project lead engineer responsible for designing, configuring, and routing IPv6 traffic for over 2,700 WAN circuits.
Collaborated with the security team to develop a comprehensive security posture for internet-routable IPv6 addresses, leveraging existing infrastructure to control traffic.
Configured BGP peering, local LAN interfaces, and IPv6 prefixes to ensure correct advertising and routing across regions and data centers.
Infoblox Deployment and Support:
Led the migration and installation of DOI’s Infoblox Grid, including seven physical servers and one VMware virtual machine in geographically diverse and fault-tolerant data centers.
Managed IPAM for both IPv4 and IPv6, DHCP, Network Insight, and Network Reporting.
Provided daily administration of DNS services for IPv4 and IPv6.
Wi-Fi (Aruba) Installations, Access Points, and Switch Refreshes:
Managed all networking requirements to ensure end-to-end connectivity for new and refreshed sites.
Configured static routes and advanced BGP setups to advertise new wireless subnets.
Updated IP-to-MAC address mappings in Infoblox for legacy Aruba access points and added new MAC addresses for the latest APs to join the Aruba controller.
Core Network Infrastructure Management:
Oversaw the management and support of DOI’s critical core infrastructure devices and remote edge routers.
Ensured secure, high-speed routing of DOI bureau traffic through multiple VRFs into LUMEN’s MPLS WAN and five designated data centers.

The primary focus of our team was to migrate Bank of America from Cisco AP’s over to Aruba wireless AP’s, 32,000 access points at over 6000 branches in the U.S. This project was put on hold due to COVID-19.

SITE RELIABILITY / WAN ENGINEER – PLANO, TX (REMOTE)
Project Scope: Led the migration of over 600+ Capital One bank branches nationwide to a cutting-edge SD-WAN solution using Versa Secure SD-WAN, enhancing uptime, security, and network performance.
Key Achievements: Achieved 99.99% network uptime, increased bandwidth and site redundancy, reduced total cost of ownership (TCO), and boosted associate and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Conducted detailed evaluations of branch networks acquired through mergers, ensuring tailored hardware and site-specific requirements.
Built and configured new device setups, including Versa Flex FWA-1320s, Cisco 2960X-48 PoE Switches, and Lantronix 882 OOB switches.
Created comprehensive network Visio diagrams and ensured hardware operated with the latest approved code.
Automated tasks using Python scripts and entered device bind data into Versa Director for seamless deployment.
