Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic
Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
Experienced Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic and Assembler. Very easy to get along with, team player. Excellent quality workmanship, focused on achieving customer satisfaction through a quality product that is delivered on time. Building structural sub- assemblies and components for the C-17 airlifter. Experience building panels, troop door jamb super panels and ramp toes. Plan, layout and locate detail parts, install per various work instructions such as blueprints, sketches, fabricating, engineering drawing, and assembly orders. Use a various of hand and pneumatic tools including hammer, drills, heavy hand tools drills, huck gun, rivet gun, torque runner, mill gun, dotco, and other. Fabricates, installs, relocates, and modifies steel structures such as monorails, aircraft stand and scaffolds. Performs preparation work of sub assembly to be painted including bending,pulling,shaping and straightering required to repair/refurbish assembly.Paint small to large assembly.Also use precision measuring devices such as scales, T-squares, dial calipers, tru-loks and depth gauges. Hold a quality stamp- able to inspect own work (MSE) Manufacturing Self Evaluation certified). Check fit and alignment of parts, inspect per quality standards. Stamp approved or rejected; document all non-conformances into quality system. Perform necessary repairs per engineering disposition .Able to remove fasteners without incurring damage to the product; experience performing bushings repairs. Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
Certified as a collateral duty inspector (CDI); certified in sealing, torque, alodine, split sleeve, hardness/fall protection and repair of surface defects. Able to work from ladders and tall or multi-lever work stands. Knowledgeable of production systems such as MSE (manufacturing execution system), solumina and Auto time; trained in the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, as well as FOD(foreign Object Debris)prevention strategies. Experience auditing other production areas for FOD .Use principles of lean manufacturing such as 5S and point of use; actively participate in the company's Go4Zero safety program; work with other team members to implement ideas to increase safety and efficiency.
