Halliburton Consulting, Aberdeen, UK
Consultant Real Time Monitoring & Drilling Optimisation Engineer Mar 2013 – July 2015
Gathered and analysed global well drilling data for GDF-Suez by providing vital insights into rig performance, NPT, costs, and safety evaluations. MaxActivity software was pivotal in overseeing rig operations, tracking individual wells and run numbers. While drilling and sliding times, alongside overall run time, were manually calculated, factors like off-bottom time, RIH, and POOH were used to derive tripping speed, connections, InSlips, BHA makeup, and break-over time. Data from the Daily Drilling Report (DDR), encompassing BOP testing, casings, run types, and calculations, were fed into a spreadsheet equipped with formulas. This data was then translated into specific charts for each rig to offer a comprehensive view. Subsequently, this data was utilized to craft presentations providing insights into each rig's performance. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) played a crucial role in assessing real-time and historical data for individual rigs and comparative data from other rigs. This comprehensive analysis facilitated drawing conclusions and formulating strategic recommendations. Monitor real time drilling activities and make interventions to rig crew. Detected and mitigated critical situations, including twist-offs and washouts in Amstel field, and well-control incidents (kicks) in Dalziel field, safeguarding personnel, and equipment. Provided technical support in drilling engineering, well planning, BHA modelling, torque and drag analysis, Buckling, Fatigue, Casing Wear, Dynamics, hydraulics, and drill bit performance evaluation. Assisted GDF-Suez to study data, conduct thorough reviews of drilling programs, and presented detailed monthly end of well (EOW) reports for L5-14, Q13a-A2, A3 and A4, D18a-A1 and A2 to GDF Suez and assessed lessons learnt.
• Employed actual drilling data using Compass and WellPlan software to create precise drilling roadmaps, ensuring alignment with planned values and swift intervention for any deviations.
• Executed precise calculations of MSE, drilling impedance, swab, and surge analysis, delivering vital insights in daily drilling report (DDR) for client clarity.
• Contributed significantly to reducing NPT in multiple wells, displaying dedication to project success. Examples: L5-14, L5-13, Q13A2, Q13-A4, Q13-A5, L15b-A108, L10-37 and its sidetracks, K12-C5 etc
• Attained Halliburton Applause award for outstanding contributions to projects - ENSCO 80 44/12a-AE, NRH K12/C5-ST, NRA L05a-D3, NPVE L10-37ST1, Galaxy2 22/16-6 wells and others.
• Acknowledged potential issues promptly by implementing vigilant real-time monitoring. Detected a washout and twist-off in time to avoid a potentially dangerous situation in Amstel Field by observing a gradual drop in SPP at ~1500m depth where the string was severed in two places.
• Spearheaded remote setup and configuration of wells at rig sites mapping descriptors and data in Insite.
• Received and analysed drilling wits data, offering insightful recommendations for optimal drilling parameters.
• Created Well Plan profile, target projections and planned trajectories of well using survey data supplied by GDF Suez, run anti-collision scan to establish centre to centre radius of proposed well to existing wells. Used the traveling cylinder method to establish off set distance apart as it provides higher level of confidence.
