January 2019 Edition We’re Not Just a Neighborhood…We’re a Community 4 Serving our Community
Mrs. Witherspoon came to be with us by chance but I choose to say by fate. The story goes…she moved here from Gary, Indiana along with her husband and grandchildren. Mrs. Witherspoon and her husband decided that they wanted to be closer to their daughter so they made the move and settled in the Griffin area. She was between jobs at the time when her daughter informed her that there was Security position at Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club.
Mrs. Witherspoon applied for the security position. She was interviewed and hired for the position on the same day. She had worked as a security officer for only two weeks when she was promoted to Site Supervisor. She started in January of 2007, and has been securing our community for over 12 years. She and four other guards work diligently together overseeing three shifts 24 hours per day. This is providing a tight armor of security 24/7 for the safety of All Families residing in this large community. As an extra layer of protection, she has three policemen to ride through our community on the weekends. She really loves this community!
Mrs. Witherspoon is a multi-tasker, who works incoming calls from residents, manages the builders, maid services, lawn services, among a host of other services all at the same time. She also oversees the front, back, and side gates into Crystal Lake main gate and The Heritage simultaneously.
She has seen a lot of changes take place in Crystal Lake over the years she has served us. She has seen several of the initial residents leave because of the downturn in the economy. During that time there were about 200 homes in the community. It’s a total different story today. Now that the economy has rebound, she has seen builders building more homes and the influx of the new people. This
community has grown to over 600 homes and Mrs.
Witherspoon enjoys the relationships and the rapport that she has established with the residents. She loves her job and tries to have fun while supervising our community. There has also been changes in the gate entry system. The new system “Dwellings Live” has been working really well. To assist the community with the transition, she made pamphlets to distribute to the residents so that they can understand the new system. Everyone has not gotten on board but like anything else, change takes time. The main changes that she would like to ensure is for the residents to understand that there are procedures to allowing others inside the gate and not allowing anyone inside without proper access. The protection of the community comes first. When it comes to securing Crystal Lake, Mrs. Witherspoon is rather strict in a compassionate way. She has a strong team that mimics her commitment when it comes to protecting all the families in the community. Mrs. Witherspoon unfortunately lost her husband during the time she has been with us so she has made this community her extended family. This community loves her!
Inclusively, all of the work that she and her team does to protect our families is overwhelmingly appreciated. Crystal Lake Golf Community thanks her and her team for all that she does to make this a safe and great community.
