LPN/Owner, Bright Assisted Living, Windsor, CO — 10/06 - 03/18
Because owned the assisted living, was responsible for a lot more than
would've been. Of course, distributed medication on time, cooked and served
all meals, but the thing felt was the most important was allowing them to feel like
they're home, loved, and taken care of. We all participated in their ADL's, were
constantly cleaning the facility to ensure the best health of our patients. We ran
drills and practiced any and all emergencies and ensured that when we had to
deliver any news regarding the patient's care to the family, we did so in the most
gentle and calm manner.
Foster Parent, Smith Agency Serenity, Aurora, CO — 02/11 - 05/16
As a foster parent, my responsibilities were never-ending. woke up and dressed
my foster children, getting them ready for school. would prepare and serve each
meal and snacks, with their medication usually following shortly after that. took
them to each appointment, participated in school events, integrated them into my
community to give them a sense of home and belonging. tutored them whenever
there was anything in their homework assignments that didn't make sense to
them. Overall, was a caretaker, but wanted them to feel as if they were a part of
my family -- because they were, so much so to the point where one of my foster
children even thought my daughter was another foster child. To that extent,
treated and cared for them as if they were my own children, and they felt the
same way.
