Executive Summary: Over 20 years of experience in a variety of trades and disciplines makes me a great candidate for any position due to the fact that through my many various work experiences I am able to adapt to new work environments and learn new skills or trades quickly and efficiently. Through my abundance of customer service work I am able to interact well with people and coworkers from all walks and backgrounds. My teamwork efforts have taught me how to be an integral part of the whole, realizing that it takes more than one part to make the whole operate. I have also had various managerial experiences which allot me the unique ability to understand what my supervisors need and their vision for getting it done, allowing me to do my best to attain those goals. Skills and Certifications:

• Excellent math skills from years of cashiering, making deposits, running night audit, and from a high frequency of math used to fabricate and layout lines of sheet metal duct work.

• Through various retail, restaurant, and hospitality endeavors I have become an excellent customer service rep.

• Years of multitasking in a Windows oriented O.S. have given me the typing and computer skills needed for most of today’s hi-tech oriented employers.

• Through my years in the trades and restaurants I have a vast knowledge of OSHA standards as well hazardous material handling and disposal training.

• I have an adaptability strength to any and all-work environments, personnel, and customers as exemplified by my array of employment endeavors and managerial experiences.

• Ability to operate large and small seated forklifts and scissor lifts.

• Certified Pool Operator certification.

• Years of excellent planning and management skills from my time as an assistant manager and coordinating projects as a sheet metal worker..

• Have taken classes through HD Supply’s professional training program on the fundamentals of electricity, plumbing, gas and electric water heaters, and a/c mechanical and electrical work as well as make ready maintenance class specifically oriented for hotels.

• Chief Engineer/Maintenance Manager – Sonesta ES Suites October 2021 – present

As with my other Chief Engineer roles, I was in charge of the upkeep and preventative maintenance of all mechanical operations and systems in, on top of and around the building. This property was an old Staybridge Suites before Sonesta took it over and never having stayed at or worked for an IHG hotel, I was not impressed, this place was out of the 90s and oddly enough had just had e reno in 2014, but you would never know it with the condition I received this property in. Over the past 2 and a half year I have fixed and properly reinstalled over a dozen A/C units, we have central air room units called “V”TACs, not “P”TACs, which are another whole demon to deal with. I have repaired both our Intellihot boilers, both had busted manifolds and one had a blower motor go out as well. I re-did all our parking lot lights and retrofitted them to LED corn cobs. I spearheaded getting our landscaping completely renovated and now everybody wonders how we have the greenest grass on the block. I have fixed numerous electrical issues all over the building, multiple plumbing issues where others decided to just turn off the water sources rather than actually fix them. I have also fixed a half dozen dishwashers that had either leaking agitator pumps, busted fill hoses, or blown motors. As our renovation from 2022, 2023 and now 2024 has not happened yet, I have taken it upon myself to start renovating public areas like our guest laundry room and public restrooms with new paint and lighting fixtures and new toilets and faucets as well. In conclusion, I have had to pull out my full array of mechanical skills here as absolutely everything was either neglected, poorly installed, or poorly renovated. I pride myself on making up for what I do not have in “proper” certifications with the knowledge I have received from over 20 years of mechanical tutelage and work alongside countless journeymen and masters in multiple mechanical disciplines. I also pride myself on being a working Chief, which after almost a decade in this industry, I know is not a common thing. I do not prefer delegating orders and hoping my techs get it done right. Rather, I show them how to do things right the first time, which is not always the fastest, but it prevents having to do the same job more than once and then having rooms down for maintenance and thus lost room revenue and dissatisfied guests. I can and will delegate, but I will always get my eyes on everything touched by someone else in my buildings, even people I hire. It’s not a lack of trust, I have just seen what 4 alarm emergencies can happen when proper supervision is not given to those who require it. I have seen industrial accidents and massive property damages done when people take shortcuts and that is not how I operate my hotels.

• Chief Engineer – Homewood Suites

March 2021 – October 2021

Responsible for the room PM system and execution. In charge of all electrical, plumbing, HVAC and pool operations and repairs. This property was only about 4 years old when I arrived but was in total disarray. Public space A/C units were leaking in hallways, multiple water heaters were down. Our outdoor sump pump was not working to mitigate pool overflow, and nobody even knew we had one, they just dealt with a flooded front lawn area for years. I found a cord going underground and dug up the pump and had it replaced. There was just a whole lot of disorganization from the previous administration so I was tasked with getting the property back on track. Within months I had A/Cs repaired, dozens of garbage disposals fixed or replaced, and replaced a bunch of lights in kitchens which everyone thought were just decorative ceiling fixtures because no one educated them to the contrary. Around August of 2021 we had a guest attempt to smother a grease fire with water and it flooded 8 rooms, 2 hallways, both our meeting rooms and a large part of our breakfast/lounge area. The restoration crew refused to do their demo work as we had no asbestos test for the property as it was only 4 years old, so I was responsible for their demo which took weeks, but as I am working Chief Engineer, I got it done. However, right before ServPro came in to rebuild everything I was offered a vastly better opportunity with Sonesta Hotels. I left this property 1000 times better than I found it as the new temp Chief to replace me was a veteran of the management company and was very complimentary of the job I had done with the place as he knew what came before me and let me know he was sad to see me go, but the management company simply could not match what I was being offered with Sonesta.

• Chief Engineer -- Quality Suites

March 2019 – March 2021

In charge of the upkeep, preventative maintenance program, and repair of everything in and outside of the hotel. Also responsible for research, planning, and execution of large maintenance projects. After arriving to the property, I was informed the hotel had been severely neglected and in its current state the building was only running 41 out of 105 rooms. The bank was in repossession of us and was told I was going to be given enough capital to get us to 72 rooms, which was the number they deemed necessary to start the hotel making profits. Within 6 months I was able to successfully get us up to 72 rooms per the bank’s and management company’s budgeting goals. This was achieved with some much-needed care and preventative maintenance including cleaning PTAC, replacing old moldy caulking, peeling ceiling textures, replacing toilets, reviving the pool from its green state, replacing burnt out electrical fixtures, bypassing all my parking light ballasts to retrofit with LED fixtures, replacing drywall and bathroom wallpapers. Once I was able to attain the goal of 72 rooms we started to make and surpass budget for 3-4 months straight and were then deemed sellable by the bank. Once new ownership took over I was again given more capital to get us to the complete 105 rooms. After the roofers came and did their repairs I was then able to start fixing the rooms out of order due to roof leaks. We are currently sitting at 101 out of 105 rooms, 3 out of the last 4 require mold removal and drywall restoration, which was all done by me in house as the pandemic limited funds for that large of an expenditure, and 1 required some copper pipe refitting which a plumber took care of.

• Assistant Chief Engineer – Hilton Garden Inn

October 2016 – March 2019

Responsible for the upkeep, preventative maintenance, and repair of everything in and outside of the hotel. Also responsible for research, planning, and execution of large maintenance projects. The most recent large project undertaken was getting all 117 guests’ restrooms into quality assurance readiness by re-caulking all bathtubs and toilet bases as well as changing out all rusty and corroded escutcheons behind shower heads, around toilet angle stops, and around tub safety bars. Also replaced all shower heads with QA approved shower heads and put protective silicone layer around safety bar escutcheons to prevent water from getting behind these and causing future rust and corrosion. Another large project was installing QA approved heat lamps for the kitchen buffet line, cutting hugely on labor costs associated with hiring a commercial electric company. Recently saved hotel roughly $2600 by diagnosing carpet extractor and 2 vacuum issues and repairing without any prior knowledge, carpet extractor had a bad vacuum motor which I replaced by splicing wires and installing while the previous chief was content with buying a new one, I turned a $2000 expenditure into a $120 fix. The 2 vacuums simply had bad wiring within the body, I was able to find good wire harnesses in 2 older bodies that were physically damaged, thus unusable, and splice these wires into good condition vacuum bodies and vacuums now work saving another $600 whereas the previous chief was also content in buying new ones.
