As a SONAR Technician my primary job out to sea was locating, tracking, and prosecuting of foreign submarines and surface vessels. Other duties include the proper maintaining and troubleshooting of equipment that is necessary to fulfill my primary duty.
Skills
Natural Leader- Integral in leading a department of 15 employees to ensure the proper training, and completion of daily maintenance requirements and complex troubleshooting efforts. Supervised the accomplishment of combat systems ship qualification trials (CSSQT) maintenance and participated in four INSURV inspections the ship’s sonar suite, maintaining equipment readiness and war-fighting capability.
Exemplary Technician- Over a course of 4 years I dedicated over 1000 maintenance hours resulting in the proper functionality and operation of on board systems. Serving as the lead technician for multiple troubleshooting efforts resulting in the proper function of all owned equipment leading to 100% combat effectiveness.
Dedicated worker- Dedicated work and personal time in the troubleshooting of on board Torpedo countermeasure equipment from a period of over a year resulting in the completion of torpedo evasion exercise, and receiving a Navy and Marine Corps achievement medal.
Proactive- I have never had an issue of completing task on time or even early I am motivated to work and complete tasks right the first time.
Communication- I constantly had to communicate with multiple divisions as the Ship Silencing Coordinator on board to ensure the compliance to the program and I would report my inspection results to the Captain every 2 weeks for each division over a course of 3 years.
Programmable- Due to my technical knowledge of troubleshooting our computer system I have some basic knowledge of Linux script writing, also I took advanced programming classes in high school, giving me the understanding of some Java script writing and understanding of utilizing If/Then statements in terms of programming. I am a quick learner and eager to learn.
Calm under stress- Due to the nature of being in the military, I have developed a resilient mindset to be able to work, and perform in high stress environments with strict adherence to rules and instruction.
