Jun 2023 - To Date: Kingdom City Project, Nakuru

Resident Engineer (Housing)

Duties:

• I head the Department of Housing as the lead Structural Engineer in the project.

• With a proposed 5,200 units under construction, I oversee all structural works carried out on housing units and auxiliary works to ensure compliance to approved drawings, costs and quality.

• I generate civil & structural designs; drawings and specifications for execution of works in all housing and auxiliary services

• Instructing and overseeing the selection and testing of materials to maintain soundness and integrity of structures

• Reporting to a Project Steering Committee concerning execution of structural works and any arising issues.

• In liaison with Steering Committee and Project Consultants, agree on time-schedules, costs and resources required to deliver on the project's vision

• Preparation of work execution projection plans and reports to the management on a weekly basis as well as making site briefs to the management

• I take responsibility for allocation and control of staff activities and materials within the Housing Department to optimize use of resources to achieve efficiency, safety and high- quality work.

Achievements:

• Completed rigorous structural analysis, design and documentation for 5 different typologies of architectural house designs under implementation comprising of town houses (3 types) and apartment blocks (2 types).

• Overseeing continuing construction of town houses as follows: 8 No. units of 494m2 each; 30 No. units of 310m2 each and 20 No. units of 200m2 each.

• Spearheading green-field project of 2,080 units (>80 blocks) of affordable housing units using aluminium form concrete technology for fast construction.

• I was the lead engineer in the design of a gated community residence in Kitisuru of 47No. units on 10.84 acres where I handled both structural and civil works designs.

• Designed and detailed 4-bedroom all-ensuite maisonettes together with the estate roads

(combined length of approx. 1km) using AutoCAD Civil 3D including storm water drainage and side walkways

• Design of retaining walls and gabions for earth fills (for one side with 1:3 slopes abutting a seasonal river)

• Site attendance for project meetings, inspection of works and supervision of designed works

Everest Courts, Kileleshwa

• Structural seismic analysis, design and detailing of a 12-storey, 2-wing apartment blocks for Everest Builders with two (2) underground basement parking of 100 vehicles
