WORK EXPERIENCE

2017 to present Consultant/Sr. Electrical Engineer (various local companies)

· Design, development, simulation, and debugging for a DSP Transceiver using Xilinx Silicon and associated tools in a Linux environment. Design consisted of VHDL code, Xilinx microprocessor and DSP IP elements, other integrated circuits, and a custom PCB, combined to achieve a digital transceiver

· IP resurrection and product engineering and manufacturing support for a family of IoT Cell Phone products using Altium and KiCAD printed circuit board design software. This family consisted of an integrated circuit IoT transceiver, an Atmel microcontroller, power circuits, and other standard electronic interfaces ranging from PCIe, PCIe-mini, SPI, UARTs, Wi-Fi, etc.

· Designed a next gen IoT Cell Phone product using existing IP and developing new circuitry for new requirements, and adapting existing firmware, software, and PCB.

2017 to 2018 Program Mgr./Sr. Electrical Engineer, NGC, Chantilly, VA

· Provided Program Management for a multi-product, multi-location, 24/7/365 O&M operation for UAV pod products

· Proposal Manager for IDIQ and Task Order contracts and subcontracts, generating SOWs, RFQs, Pricing Analyses and supporting documentation, Labor Estimates and BOEs, and interfaced with supporting internal company disciplines

· Provided engineering support for the SIL, for product integration and platform testing. Consulted on the design and development of a mobile SIL.

· Task assignments, budget tracking, and personnel management for the program

2015 to 2017 Lead/Sr. Electrical Engineer, NGC, Reston, VA

· Provided engineering and mentoring for a small group of engineers that supported the customer’s operation in the technical arena of automobiles

· Established, developed, and refined a research laboratory for evaluating sub-systems, interconnections, and firmware for modern automobiles including detailed CANbus traffic, infotainment systems, and wireless systems.

· Wrote much of the proposals that resulted in an IDIQ award and following task orders

2014 to 2015 Program Mgr./Sr. Electrical Engineer, NGC, Chantilly, VA

· Provided program management, tasking, and lead engineering for a multi-contractor support operation on site for a restricted customer

· Architected and designed the electronic elements of five potential embedded electronics products, four of which went from conception to production

· Supported the customer’s operation as needed for QRCs in the arena of automobile electronics

· Trained several engineers in the use of Mentor Graphics PADS for schematic capture and board layout and developed several boards for custom power supply and microprocessor electronics

2000 to 2014 Lead/Sr. Electrical Engineer, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Reston, VA

· Designed, developed, debugged, tested, fielded, and supported a video capture, storage, and retrieval system that supports VGA, DVI, and emerging DisplayPort™.

· Planned a multiple board platform that supported evolving video standards without total re-design; Board stack-up consisted of a 32-bit MPU host processor, a high-speed, high-density CPLD co-processor, PSRAM Memory Store, and an RF Spread Spectrum, Frequency Hopped Modem Interface.

· Resulted in a cost-effective life-cycle of ten years and more than one hundred installed systems with about a 70% fielded rate.

· Maintained subject matter expertise in: high-speed analog and digital circuit design (Mentor Graphics HyperLynx 8.0, SPICE); impedance controlled PCB design (PADS 9.0 Layout and Routing); logic development of application specific computing elements and other IP (Synplicity FPGA Synthesis, ALDEC Active-HDL *.1 Simulator); C & Assembly coding for embedded MPUs, CPUs, and FPGA elements; Analog Devices Inc. and Texas Instruments Inc. advanced technology for video processing; Video Standards such as VGA, DVI, LCD Interfaces, DisplayPort™.

· Product Life Cycle Support: host systems analysis for install support; production run testing, commissioning, and problem resolution; product planning of architecture, technical evolution, and application specific modifications

· Manufacturing Support: stencil design, acquisition, and application; Pick-and-Place document generation and problem resolution; oven profile development for convection soldering and problem resolution for BGA packaging; assembly re-work and product testing; component burn-in profile identification; process analysis and improvement for specific products; JTAG programming for production testing (XJTAG)

· Led the design, installation, start-up and commissioning, and final acceptance of a Clean Room facility; Interfaced with structural engineering, MEP firms, HVAC, and county permitting.

1997 to 2000 VP of Engineering, BittWare Research Systems, Inc, Concord, NH

· Designed Telecom, Data Acquisition, Software Radio Elements, and DSP computer boards using high-speed transmission and impedance-controlled stack-up techniques.

· Developed standard interfaces for PCI, cPCI, PC-104 Plus, and PMC bus technologies for standard DSP parallel processor architectures.

· Performed design reviews, resource allocation, scheduling, technology assessments, and management for software, hardware, and mechanical disciplines in support of Standard Product Division.

· Interfaced with other management to support product sales, new business acquisition, and problem resolution.

1996 to 1997 Divisional Manager, HDS, Inc., Reston, VA

· Responsible for the Collections Division - 15 professionals and 4 Managers

· VMEbus based Telecom products with Local Loop interfaces, DSP based audio and call processing features, and storage sub-systems.
