TSA Airport Checkpoints: Area Manager for more than one hundred projects in seven states, responsible for fifteen project managers. Liaison between design team and TSA assuring compliance with Governmental requirements. Monitor progress of and provide guidance to project managers as they complete site assessments, statements of work, bids, contracts, permits, contractor selection and project completion.
TSA airport projects; managed cost estimating teams evaluating contractor proposals at progressive stages of design for LAX, PHX, ORD, MSP, MIA, MDW, MCO, LGA, JFK and GUM.
Time Warner Cable Critical Infrastructure Edge Program; Lead a team of engineers, architects and contractors in design and construction of eight Southern California sites. Monitor scope and code requirements.

Led a team of eight project managers at TSA checkpoints in Southern California and Pacific Island Airports
John Wayne Airport (SNA); Airport Stakeholders rejected the proposed design and demanded unreasonably expensive construction materials and methods. Mr. Bakken was able to negotiate a cost-effective solution and provide an alternate design acceptable to all parties.
Ontario International Airport (satellite of LAX); stakeholders at LAX, ONT, City of Ontario and TSA had conflicting design requirements and there was a power struggle between LAX, ONT and the City of Ontario for control of the Airport. Mr. Bakken brokered an agreement among stakeholders, and direct design engineers to an acceptable solution.
TSA Checkpoint Projects; reviewed designs, managed budgets, and suggested design changes to bring costs within budget. Mr. Bakken provided training and oversight to site-specific project managers.
Hub Manager: supervised and mentored project managers and assisted them in solving unusual or difficult problems.

Arizona Game & Fish requested an audit of all design and construction records for its new facility when costs exceeded the budget. Mr. Bakken reviewed all documents to determine consistency with the contracts and presented recommendations to Game and Fish for use in a lawsuit.

Southwest Airlines: Mr. Bakken managed engineering consultants and completed the architectural design for a maintenance facility and office expansion at Sky Harbor Airport. Scottsdale Links Golf Course (Joint venture with City of Scottsdale); as General Contractor for buildings only, Mr. Bakken procured the winning bid by proposing an alternative structural wall system - reducing costs by 50%. After construction was underway the Owner approached Mr. Bakken to perform civil and utility work when competitive bids came in over budget. Using in-house employees, he completed work for as little as half the Owner received estimates.

Butler North Historic Renovation (Minneapolis Minnesota); a prominent Minneapolis developer purchased and retrofitted historic industrial buildings in downtown Minneapolis with the goal of converting them to retail, restaurant, and office space for lease. Mr. Bakken’s company developed retrofit proposals and feasibility studies, prior to property acquisition, retain design teams, and develop/manage construction budgets. After acquisition we managed outside contractors and self-performed a significant percentage of the work.
Carefree Inn Resort: This was a 750+ room resort consisting of a convention center, restaurants, shops, hotel rooms, casitas and timeshare units which had been vacant for more than 10 years when purchased by a developer. Mr. Bakken’s company started the project as a carpentry subcontractor. The owners quickly found that renovation bids were coming in vastly over their budget. Upon seeing his crew's efficiency, the Owners approached Mr. Bakken to complete work encompassing most divisions. He completed the work within house employees, suggested alternative methods of construction and was able to complete work within the owner's budget.
