System Maintenance Technician (SMT) for Ground Based Sense and Avoid (GBSAA) 06/05/2017- Present

Perform installation, unit level maintenance, diagnostic testing, and repair of hardware and software in the GBSAA Processing Unit Room, GBO Operations Room and the LSTAR(V)3 radar set. Installs and maintains all network cables located within the GPU room and within the GBO room required for connecting hardware. Ensures voice communication between the GBO room and the Ground Control Stations (GCS) is properly connected and operating. Installs and verifies software and hardware for the GBSAA system, monitors system for performance, conducts inspections to ensure that software and hardware configuration is maintained. OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM 11/12 Afghanistan

Deployed to Paktika province, Afghanistan from 10/2011-09/2012. Supervised, operated and maintained a AN/TPQ-36, resulting in a 98% acquisition rate and a 99% operational time surpassing any radar in service in Afghanistan at that time. Directed supervision of over $40 million of military equipment. Additional responsibilities of providing both formal and informal training to subordinate soldiers on equipment operations, day-to-day maintenance and all repair work. As the senior radar operator, I was in charge supervising sling loading operations of more than 20 pieces of equipment. Received one Army Commendation Medal.

Operated and maintained a AN/TPQ-64, and three AN/TPQ-48 Lightweight Counter-Mortar Radar’s resulting in a 95% acquisition rate and a 97% operational time Became the subject matter expert and the go to person for troubleshooting solutions. Constructed new organization measures that resulted in 100% accountability of equipment and also faster return times on repair part.
