July 2010 to April 2021
Wired new office and labs for Ethernet and set up network for new company formed with inventory from CombiMatrix and eight former employees after CombiMatrix closed their laboratories in Washington state.
Main IT duties were running daily backups of the file servers and desktops, setting up PCs for laboratory machines, and maintaining the company email and web site. My most recent project of note was constructing a simple database input system to track details of DNA synthesis runs which replaced our old method of tracking these details on paper in various lab books.
With a staff of eight, daily requirements for IT work were light. Took over lab duties that did not require a degree in biology to free up our electrical engineer in charge of building and repairing proprietary machines for DNA synthesis.
Also took over the shipping of products from that same person. This meant shipping three or so packages a day with FedEx.
