CNC Machine Operator
I operated a CNC machine that cut and drilled holes into steel beams used in the construction on buildings and structures. Using a iPad, I’d look up the order number for specific beam. Then I’d enter the different cuts specified on the blueprints into the CNC machine. I’d have to use an automation conveyor system to move the 5 thousand plus pounds steel beams onto my machine. Throughout the drilling and cutting process of the beam, I’d have to watch closely the drills and listen in case of breakage of the drill, while at the same time filling the water tank every five to ten minutes. After completion of the cutting and drilling process, I’d measure the length of the beam itself, count the drilled holes and measure the holes to assure that the holes matched the blueprints and use chalk to put the date, job order number, my initials onto the beams.

I operated a three axis CNC router with a numeric computer control, that cut sheets of steel to customer specification. I had to load the sheets of steel by using a forklift depending on the thickness and grade of the steel. Once the steel was loaded into the CNC machine, I’d enter the cut grade, desired thickness, width and length into the CNC machine and convert the measurements to enter into the CNC machine . Once the steel was cut, I’d take another measurement of the finished cut double checking each piece and if necessary use a deburring tool to smooth and holes drilled and smooth sharp edges.
