Support AWS efforts(continued); Created a script used in Jenkins jobs, which extracts deployment information from JIRA deployment request tickets, validates the deployment request, and populates the Jenkins environment with the required properties to perform the deployment. Designed a JIRA/Jenkins “dispatcher” and mentored a junior team member in implementing it. The dispatcher automatically deploys “Approved” deployment requests as QA raises them. Migrated build process from using static lists of AWS instances for deployments to “discovered” real-time lists of instances.

Re-factored many “one-of” scripts used in Jenkins, the goal being to simplify the addition of new jobs and debug existing jobs when necessary. Performed production and non-production deployments. Harvard University, HUIT Cambridge, MA 01/2014 – 11/2014 Senior Systems and Release Engineer, HUIT Innovation & Architecture Oversaw all aspects of build and installation of Harvard’s Project Integer using Amazon AWS resources for all build and System test instances and creating shell and python scripts running in JENKINS to support the same. Migrated deployments from using SSH to using Jenkins agent nodes. Verizon provides no RC access at system start-up; created and deployed a “JENKINS node watcher”; it checked for and restarted a JENKINS node. Reduced build ‘on call’ calls with a JENKINS job used by the QA leads to unlock frozen code streams for bug fix, and re-locked the stream after a predefined length of time. Developers created many “evil twin” elements; and designed and wrote an AccuRev trigger to prevent evil twin creation. Verizon had high contractor turnover; modified the AccuRev permission triggers (a PERL script) to create a lower class of administrator (user and workspace tasks) who could manage users but not perform destructive activities. Conversion of ant build scripts from the ClearCase environment to AccuRev. Introduced new tools for issue tracking, collaboration, and automated builds.
