To whom it may concern:
I am in the process of relocating and not available to start until November 1st. I had considered becoming a school bus driver and had a class B permit with air brakes and passenger bus endorsements. But later I concluded that is not direction for me. While working for ADP logistics, LLC, I had D.O.T. card and my route was from Binghamton to Albany nightly. Personal reasons made resigning from this role necessary. I did enjoy driving 26’ box truck. Since then, I have been working at many different positions. I was most recently working in the civil engineering technician field as a construction inspector / consultant working on NYSDOT highway construction projects. I was employed by Erdman, Anthony and Associates on 4 different projects. This diverse exposure gave me experience in total road re-construction of roadway including sub-base layers, erosion control fabric layers, sidewalks, curbs, new installed storm sewer and runoff collection pond, public water installations, traffic lights, milling and night paving, blasting of rock in the cut areas and using this material in the fill areas, use of “ cold weather” fill material ( used in temperatures below freeziing) from a local mining operation including visiting gravel pit and making a field observation of the approved material stockpile, being taught to use Trimble “Total Station” and rover and base starion to locate key design features (existing infrastructure) and to locate the proposed design features locations, precisely to 1/100 of an inch, used it proficiently to calculate the volume of the yards cut in the building of the storm retention pond, measuring the lengths of the installed water lines and storm sewers to be included in the “ daily work reports” submitted to the Engineer in Charge, EIC and these field measurements are the basis for paying the contractor.
So, in lieu of a typical cover letter I felt that an explanation would clarify my current situation.
College 1979 – graduated U.E.HS. Endicott, NY – advanced math and sconce, regents diploma
1983 – graduated with an AA.S. Civil Engineering Technology, Broome Community College, Binghamton, NY
1983-1986 NYSDOT as engineering technician permanent-temporary with winter layoff
1986-2005 Jim Murray Appraisal Service, assistant to Certified Residential R.E. Appraiser, assistant to owner, became leading certified appraiser (top performer
2005-2014 – Appraisals By Cooke, started my own business after being faced with “ buy me out or get-out” scenario by my prior employer.
No longer state certified to perform Appraisals I wanted to finish my career in a role that allowed me to feel part of a team and be recognized for experience, proficiency and reliability. A job I am qualified for or take some additional training to get qualified to work m another 5-10 years before retirement.
I was a medical transportation driver, taxi cab driver, 26 foot box truck driver, worked through an employment agency at many different positions, from construction demolition, recycle plant worker to working for the local minor-league baseball franchise. I was using my vehicle to be an insta-cart shopper, door dash delivery and uber eats delivery driver. Most all work included driving as a major part of the job requirements.
I was looking for something I could use my degree to qualify for a job and have my lifetime career come full circle. I thought that was achieved except I now find myself suddenly without a job. Most importantly I am.looking for an employer that will be there consistently with the need for my role and that recognizes the value of loyal hard-working employee’s that are loyal, reliable, willing to learn and implement new tasks and be treated as part of the that will be reliable, proficient and productive, and prompt regarding starting shifts and being there as a part of a team.
