Santa Rosa Medical Group Walk In Clinic - Navarre, FL June 2020 to November 2021
clinical nurse in an acute care walk in clinic. I perform a variety of tests, procedures, and all basic nursing skills. I triage patients and determine if acute care is the appropriate treatment plan for them. I obtain a full set of vital signs and assess the patient for any signs/symptoms that may be present. After triage and a review of the patient, I place them into a room, document all information into the patient chart, and then discuss the details with the Nurse Practitioner on duty. The patient's medical/family history, chief complaints, nursing assessment, abnormal findings, vitals, and any signs/symptoms present are reported to the ARNP and carefully reviewed to determine a diagnoses and plan. I ensure that all procedures performed in clinic are explained and understood by patient, consent documents are signed and charted, necessary supplies for procedures and routine exams are gathered and prepared for the provider, and that medications prescribed are sent and received by appropriate pharmacy. I run all tests such as: EKGs, rapid and PCR Covid-19, Influenza, Strep, Mononucleosis, Glucose, A1Cs, Urinalysis, HCG, and STI panels. Some techniques and skill sets I have acquired and use often in the acute care setting would be molding and applying casts, removal of sutures/staples, wound care and various types of bandage applications, assisting with surgical procedures and exams, and providing all patients with discharge teaching and ER precautions. I call and follow up with sick patients, authorize referrals and set up appointments, retrieve and inform patients of lab results, and overall ensure that the clinic is providing the best medical care that it can.
