The primary focus will be the use of Yoga postures for rehabilitation post-injury, and functional restoration of postural alignment due to muscle imbalance, repetitive use syndromes, handedness, etc., 2016 Patient Communications and Cultural Sensitivity: “Doctor Your Words Are Powerful” A doctor’s communication and interpersonal skills encompass their ability to gather information in order to facilitate an accurate diagnosis, counsel appropriately, give therapeutic instructions, and establish a caring doctor-patient relationship. These core skills are essential for the effective delivery of healthcare. Recent experimental evidence indicates that the healthcare provider’s negative verbal suggestions directly affect the patient by inducing anticipatory anxiety. This triggers the activation of cholecystokinin, which in turn facilitates pain perception. Furthermore, it is estimated that by the year 2050, more than half of the US population will be comprised of racial minorities. This takes on greater importance when, as growing body of evidence demonstrates, the patients’ clinical outcome is directly affected by the doctor-patient relationship. Particular attention should be paid to the evidence that racial and ethnic minorities receive lower quality healthcare than Caucasians- even when they are insured to the same degree and other healthcare access related factors are the same. 2017 Proper Management of Selected Conditions, It is important for clinicians to understand, incorporate, and follow a logical, yet relevant order when assessing a patient’s presenting problem. This allows for a more educated and accurate diagnosis. In this lecture we will review musculoskeletal related conditions relevant to the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spines. Discerning through an algorithmic approach to the patient’s history, assessment, and presenting indicators what signals the ordering of basic and advanced imaging, diagnostic studies, and/or pertinent referrals to other specialties. Our discussion will include components on treatment objectives, current frequency and duration of care standards, and setting and achieving goals for patient treatment, recovery, and discharge. We will review current “evidence-based” treatment protocols, keeping in mind the utilization of clinical judgment is always the main precipitating factor in patient care. 2018 Functional Soft Tissue Featuring FAKTR, Evaluate using movement assessment procedures and how they relate to soft tissue treatment, exercise rehabilitation, and mobilization/manipulation. (ECS). The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a biological system that utilizes cell-signaling to promote homeostasis. The ECS exists throughout the entire body and appears to be an essential factor in multiple biological functions in health and disease. Acting through signaling pathways, the ECS regulates many physiological functions. The ECS consists of three key components: cannabinoid receptors, endogenous ligands called endocannabinoids, and enzymes involved in cannabinoid metabolism. The ECS is a lipid signaling system that traces back to the mitochondria is “regulating energy homeostasis.” 2020 From Evaluation through Rehab: Common MSK Disorders Treated by Sports Chiropractors (On Demand) 2020 Relevant Rehab: Chronic Low Back Pain A Multimodal Approach of Active Care (Webinar), Chronic low back pain is a leading cause of disability worldwide.
