SUMMARY:

I am a creative designer with 35+ years’ experience in automotive product design. Experienced in 3D CAD solid modeling, assemblies and surfacing. I have done mechanical design, under the hood packaging, detailing drawings with GD&T and body structure design. I also quoted projects, led design projects, and performed data transfer and translations for customers I’m knowledgeable with Product Life Management (PLM) and the use of TeamCenter.

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE:

Jan 2010 – April 2020: SLPT Global Pump Group (SLW Automotive, Inc.)

Sr. Designer – Hired direct by SLW Automotive, Inc. after Borg Warner’s sale of their Thermal Pump/Pump Group to Shenglong Group. I continued to work on mechanical oil pumps to support current production and to develop electric motor pumps for prototype builds. I used CATIA V5 CAD system as my primary design tool along with IDEAS. In October of 2011, I took on the added responsibility as our DDSC facility’s Communication/Safety Officer to improve management to employee communication concerns between our Sallisaw, Oklahoma plant and DDSC Office in Michigan. This was also where I started gaining experience with Pro-E and NX.

July 2008 – Jan 2010: Delta Staffing

Sr. Designer – I was contracted into Borg Warner’s Thermal/Pump Group (Morse TEC) in Auburn Hills, MI to support their design and engineering teams with 3D CAD models and drawings. I worked on IDEAS CAD system to design more cost effective, high tech, oil pumps to their customers. I have also supported their transmission oil pump designs in CATIA V4.

June 2007 – July 2008: Tri Corp Design

Sr. Designer – Contracted into Borg Warner’s Thermal/Pump Group (Morse TEC) in Auburn Hills, MI to support their design and engineering teams with 3D CAD models and drawings. I worked on IDEAS to design more cost effective, high tech, oil pumps to their customers. I have also supported their transmission oil pump designs in CATIA V4.

May 2007 – Oct 2007: Drive Sol Corp

Sr. Designer – Worked on a part-time contract with Drive Sol, in Troy, MI to design Fixed and Adjustable Pedal Systems in IDEAS and CATIA V4. The primary purpose of my work for Drive Sol was to support their current product and to win new business for them with 3D CAD model designs and drawings in this New Global Supplier Market Place. Some of their customers I have provided designs for are Ford, GM, Hyundai and Nissan. I finished two new conceptual designs of adjustable pedal systems for Nissan.

May 2007 - June 2007: Delta Staffing

Sr. Designer – Contracted into Ricardo Inc. DTC, in Van Buren Twp., MI. I worked there in IDEAS on a special vehicle project for Ford and Mazda for the Asian market. The project consisted of taking out a gasoline engine of a vehicle and replacing it with a diesel engine. I was responsible for rerouting the fuel lines from the fuel tank to the engine and relocating key electrical sensors and rerouting any other wiring as needed. I also worked on the brake vacuum lines, trans cooler lines and brackets.

June 2005 - March 2007: TCC Inc.

Sr. Designer - Was contracted to VEHMA & COSMA in Troy, MI to work on prototype and production designs for Ford (P356 and D3) and Chrysler (HB, W Family, JS and DM). Work involved body structure, heavy truck frame and car frames & sub-frames, and bumper systems. My work involved part design modeling, assembly modeling and detail drawings with weldment drawings in IDEAS and CATIA V4 CAD systems.

May 2005 - June 2005: EDAG

Sr. Designer - Contracted to Karmann in Plymouth, Michigan to do detailing work on CATIA V4 for DCX and GM. Work involved assembly and drawing updates to convertible soft tops and hard tops.

April 2005 - May 2005: Metzeler

Sr. Designer - Worked at Jeep Truck in Detroit on the JSD program. I was responsible for designing window and door seals on CATIA V4 and updating drawings and CAD files in VPM.

Nov 2004 - April 2005: Tri-Co Design

Sr. Designer - Worked on a diesel engine cost-reduction program for International Truck. I worked on their inline 6 and V8 engines and was responsible for 3D CAD models and assemblies in IDEAS-C3P. Also was responsible for drawings, tolerance stack-ups, bill of materials and investigating alternative materials for weight reduction and manufacturing processes. Worked on lubrication system, oil pumps, oil pans, electrical sensors, fuel rails, mounting brackets, cooling system, auxiliary air compressor valve assembly, engine bedplate and heat shields.

May 2000 - Oct 2004: Teleflex Automotive

Sr. Designer/Leader - I worked on PDGS, IDEAS-C3P & CATIA V4 CAD systems. I was lead designer for Adjustable Pedal systems, on Ford's U251 program and Nissan's TT delatch system. I had traveled to Köln, Germany to start up an adjustable pedal program for Ford of Europe and to interface with their design and engineering team on their Focus program. I worked on CATIA V4 CAD system for Mercedes M Class vehicle on a fixed brake system. Other programs I was responsible for included Ford U137, D186, UN93, P131, U152 and U231. I was employed through Signetics Inc., Rochester Hills, MI., on contract, before being hired direct by Teleflex in November of 2000.

June 1998 - May 2000: Williams Pro-Active Adjustable Pedal Systems

Sr. Designer/Leader & CAD Administrator - Worked on a stand-alone PDGS & IDEAS-C3P workstation. I had complete design and detail responsibility for adjustable brake, clutch and accelerator systems. I was responsible also for all CAD Data coming into and out of our design group on PDGS and IDEAS C3P. Projects I had worked on at Pro-Active are the Ford DEW 98, U137 and XR33, Chrysler's PL, DN and RS platforms. I also designed special adjustable pedal systems for Visteon on a demonstration buck for the Frankfurt Auto Show and for a Chrysler simulation test vehicle at CTC.

Oct 1991 - June 1998: BTR Sealing System Group North America

Contracted through Resource Technologies Corp. - Troy, MI

Sr. Designer/Leader - I was responsible for the design and detailing of static and dynamic weather strip sealing systems used on Ford truck and car programs on a PDGS. Ford programs I worked on were the UN93, UN173, FN74, FN145, FN10, EN114, PN96, PHN131, UW137, VX133 and the CDW27. I performed Class "A" surfacing on plastic, rubber and metal sealing components and was also responsible for Final Release of CAD files into the Ford Data Collectors and WERS. Other work at BTR includes the 1995 GM, G body car program.
