Key Skills and Competencies Acquired While Studying:

Excellent mathematical and analytical skills to accurately measure land and survey data.

Strong attention to detail and problem solving abilities.

Proficiency in using surveying equipment such as GPS and RTK machine.

Familiar with the surveying software such as ArcGIS, QGIS and computer-aided design(CAD) programs.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, contractors and other professionals.

Good understanding of land laws, regulations and surveying standards to ensure that the work is accurate and compliant with legal requirements.

Well versed in Computer Packages Word, Access, Power point, Internet.

Worked at the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) under the Geographic Information System (GIS) department – February 2020 to May 2022:

Mapping forest resources.

GIS analysis using Arc GIS and QGIS software.

Retrieving stored maps and data.

Image acquisition and preparation.

Land use/Land cover mapping.

Land use/Land cover change detection analysis.

Interpretation and classification of imagery using remote sensing techniques.
