Role 2: (Apr 2014- Jul 2016)

Reservoir Engineer - Sag Reservoir, Prudhoe Bay Oil Field Original Oil in Place (OOIP): 1.5 billion barrels

Drive Mechanisms: Gravity Drainage, Waterflood and Miscible Gas Injection EOR. Key Accomplishments:

• Led and completed 4 large projects called Area Performance Evaluations (APEs) in the Sag to spearhead new drilling.

• Enabled accessing 41 million barrels of recoverable oil through these projects and evaluated 30 drilling prospects.

• Found several new drilling prospects by accurately estimating water flood fronts and pockets of un-swept oil.

• Carried out Economic Evaluations based on reserves. Presented the detailed proposals to field co-owners, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil and Chevron and obtained over 95% approvals in difficult price environment, paving way for an investment of over

$100 million in infill drilling.

• Several wells from these analyses have been drilled with combined reserves of 11 million barrels of oil. Objective

Seeking a Reservoir Engineering position with 11+ years of industry experience in Petroleum Engineering including 4 years as a Reservoir Engineer with BP America with an outstanding track record as detailed in ‘key accomplishments’ section below. Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt of India: Consultant (Reservoir) (Oct 2017- Present)

• Key contribution in ongoing work of reviewing Enhaced Recovery (ER) policy 2018, updating it to extend its reach for better results

• Introduced strategic importance of improving water injection across all India and floated the idea of incentivising the same by updating the ER policy

• Reservoir Engineering examination of Field Development Plans

(FDPs) submitted by Operators for new discoveries

• Reservoir Engineering examination of documents such as Revised FDPs, Declaration of Commerciality, Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) Extension, ER proposals etc. submitted at various stages of field life by Operators

• Key contribution in rolling out mandatory compliance of PRMS guidelines for all Operators in India E&P sector in Mar 2021.

• Reservoir and production performance monitoring of National Oil Companies (NOCs) and other producing fields

• Reservoir Engineering inputs to policy making related to oil & gas

• Examination of Operators’ Work Program & Budget, Audited Reports, ensuring relevance and quantum of reservoir activity

• Unique contribution in pointing out budget discrepancies and severe noncompliance issues, which resulted in addition of large revenue to the government

• The producers drilled from these projects have added a combined oil rate of 10,000 bopd, an increase of 55%

• Analyzed gas cap drive mechanism strength by Material Balance study. This analysis established that an area where a number of drilling targets were previously identified had no gas cap strength, thus preventing potential losses. Identified new targets with strong gas drive strength.

• Identified accurate waterflood fronts, 6 out of 7 were corroborated as acuurate by infill drilled wells. This study helped planning of infill wells to target pockets of unswept oil most efficiently.

• Analyzed Horizontal Wells reservoir performance using analytical equations (Joshi equations) to highlight reasons for underperformance, remedial actions and lessons for future horizontal wells.

• Earned several spot bonus awards and early promotion from team leaders along with excellent annual performance ratings. Graduate Research Thesis

Reservoir screening for EOR potential for Western North Slope, Alaska Published in the journal : Energy Sources, Part A: Recovery, Utilization, and Environmental Effects Link to access the publication: http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/15567036.2012.736014 Brief Overview:

• A reservoir ranking method was developed for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) potential for Western North Slope, Alaska.

• It is a novel method of ranking where the reservoirs can be tested for suitability with miscible gas injection by just using a couple of Excel spreadsheets for rapid estimation of minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) and minimum miscibility enrichment (MME) to determine the injection gas compositions.

• Suitable injection gas composition can be found out from the spreadsheet which can be used in Reservoir Simulation study. Software Proficiency
