After one year as driver, promoted to position of Inbound Supervisor. Supervise 25 personnel that receive, break down, inventory, inspect, and record damage of inbound freight. Provide hands-on supervision and leadership that increased morale and efficiency and reduced dock employee turnover from 12 a year to 1 a year. Re-organized dock procedures to better design and package freight loads in the most cost effective configurations/routes that resulted in shorter time between deliveries and lower fuel costs. Increased dock efficiency by implementing workplace rules that limit and monitor breaks, establish trailer-loading time limits, and assign and hold employees accountable for specific jobs and equipment. These measures reduced freight damage claims by 60%, reduced man-hours on the dock, reduced pickup time, and increased the deliveries per hour rate. These actions directly contributed to the Terminal Efficiency Rate improvement from high cost to profitable numbers and to the dramatic improvements in the Terminal CMI rank from last of 25 to first of 25 (best in region).
