MEDICAL ADVOCATE - YWCA
I supported individuals who were sexually assaulted. This support took place mostly in the emergency department in the hospitals in Lancaster County. It could also take place at the police department. I supported them ensuring their rights and wishes were met. OCTOBER 2018 – OCTOBER 2019
COMMUNITY INTEGRATION SPECIALIST - COMMUNITY SERVICES GROUP I worked at CSG as an Integration Specialist part-time. Our department’s task was to help homeless individuals with mental illness find and maintain housing. This was an incredibly rewarding opportunity. I enjoyed the work I did at CSG. The position was challenging due to the nature of our housing market and the barriers created by the individuals and society. The competition for available housing, especially small apartments, is quite tight. Our job was to help individuals navigate through the complex system. This involved increasing their chances through credit counseling, references, and acting as a liaison between landlords and tenants. Once the individual obtained housing we helped them with skill building to be able to maintain the housing.
