Experience

July 2019 - July 2023

Aperion Care Dekalb, 1212 S 2nd St, Dekalb, IL - Dietary Aide

As a dietary aide, my primary responsibilities were preparing and delivering food to residents, cleaning dining rooms, and setting up the dining rooms and room trays for the next meal. I mainly served the dining rooms which allowed me to work closely with the residents and help them get the foods or drinks they needed or wanted. My favorite part of this job was assisting the residents in any way I could whether that be something small like opening condiment packets for them or something more critical like helping them get to the dining room on time or back to their rooms so they can relax. My reason for leaving is that unfortunately, the company could not afford their staff which led to staff being cut as well as our pay. As much as I loved that job I couldn’t rationalize staying once they began making these cuts.

Education

August 2017 - May 2020

Dekalb High School, 501 W Dresser Rd, Dekalb, IL - High School Diploma

August 2020 - Current

Kishwaukee College, 21193 Malta Rd, IL - Associate in Science in progress

I am majoring in psychology and plan to transfer to NIU when I get my Associate in Science degree.

Other Information

Something else I have done that’s not a job but did provide me with good experiences was volunteering at the Barb Food Mart. The Barb Food Mart is a food bank that specifically provides food and other essentials to families with children who go to school in District 428. While volunteering there I helped organize boxes of food by number and applied labels for certain food restrictions or needs for certain essentials. I also bagged frozen food and loaded carts with items for each family and helped deliver them to either the families themselves or their cars. It was a very rewarding experience and I also enjoyed helping organize everything before it was time to give families food.
