PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT -Quest Diagnostics 2016-Present

• Administrative assistant in the pathology department at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, CO.

Manage all aspects of daily office duties to support three pathologists. Duties include fielding multiple phone calls, distributing pathology slides and reports at the pathologist’s request, calling outside medical offices to obtain prior pathology reports, ensuring that all office materials are fully stocked.

Prepare an average of 30-35 specimen requests per week for outside testing, research and consultations – maintaining a turnaround time of less than 24 hours. Each request requires assuring that all requests from outside testing facilities are HIPPA compliant, printing reports, pulling the slides and delivering to the on call pathologist to authorize and determine which materials should be sent, creating a send out entry in EPIC (hospital based computer program), packaging materials and having packages ready for 3:30 Federal Express deadline each day.

Organization and maintenance of thousands of pathology slides and paraffin blocks including scanning the bar codes on each slide sent out and received in ASSIST (pathology material tracking program), transferring all slides and blocks to storage boxes, as well as keeping track of all materials sent out and returned in EPIC.

Preparation of materials and reports for four weekly tumor conferences attended by treating physicians as well as our pathologist to review pathology slides, reports and to discuss treatment options. Preparation includes determining which cases to request, faxing requests to outside hospitals, logging outside slides into an Excel spreadsheet to track receipt and return, and delivering all materials to presenting pathologist in time for them to prepare to present cases.

Certified to proctor quarterly and annual pathology assessment exams for the pathologists from the American Society of Clinical Pathology, ensuring all materials are securely stored, that the pathologists complete the test in the time allotted, accurately documenting all paperwork and ensuring that materials are returned to ASCP before deadline
