Volunteer with Uganda Wildlife Authority Research and Diagnostic Laboratory

Duties performed: Sample collection, processing, storage and reporting of results, field surveillance outreach and emergency response to snared wildlife, writing and reviewing SOPs, reagent preparation, Data analysis of different results and community outreach, performing lab procedures such as phlebotomy, rapids, serology, and hematology.

Volunteered with Rapha Medical Center 2022

Duties performed: Examined levels of toxicity in different patients using PCR technique, Used biotechnology technologies in paternity testing and disease diagnosis, medical camps, field outreach, generating and documentation of results, clinical biochemistry, and microscopy. Consulted with other team members to Participate in the climate change movement of protecting the environment.

Internship - Makerere University Molecular Laboratory 2021 - 2022 Duties performed: Carried out recombinant DNA technology, gene assays, and data analysis. Conducted laboratory practices in microbiology like fermentation, and extraction of active compounds from different substances. Performed quality control for contamination in different foodstuffs as well as microbe culturing as required at the time. Compiled reports and data into Microsoft Excel and Word applications for publication on different websites. Assisted with administrative operations including appointment scheduling, chart preparation, data collection, record keeping, safety procedures, and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Assisted lower-level internees with the design of experiments.

Internship - Laboratory technician in Kyenjojo research lab 2020. Duties performed: Successfully handled the disease testing section of the laboratory. Performed chemical mixing for media used in the laboratory. Demonstrated and oriented clients on appropriate ways to handle the medications we gave to them.
