Executive Profile I have been an ordained pastor of the Southern Baptist Convention for the past 40 + years. I have served in leadership positions all my adult life as deacon, assistant pastor, senior pastor, project manager and executive board member. I have overseen Church administration, staff and projects of a wide variety. As Senior Pastor, I have implemented policy and procedures, led building programs, raised funds, conducted revivals, worship services, weddings, funerals, grief counseling, and family adoptions and consulted on almost every type of family situation possible.

Core Accomplishments I have led a startup Church from 15 members to a 200 member award winning ministry. We have completed 5 major building projects with no debt as well as starting, supporting and continuing foreign mission work in 5 countries. I have been a top 10 national supporter for Oneida Baptist Institute for the past 25 years. Pleasant Home has been a unique opportunity for ministry here our area. It is a local Church with a global impact. We have given over two million dollars to various needs, causes and families but we are particularly sympathetic to poor children. However we realize that the greatest needs are not physical but spiritual: we continue to pursue the mandate of Scripture in carrying out the Great Commission as we minister through different social outreaches

This has been a wonderful opportunity to practice New Testament concepts here in rural Appalachia. Our outreach and ministry has been life changing for many and also nationally and state recognized. We continue with many outreach ministries both at home and internationally.

Tackett Furniture- Owner I have managed and operated our family business for over 35 years. This was a large 26 employee organization that gave me multiple opportunities to interact with people of every type here in Eastern Kentucky. We operated in a 3 state area.

Three M Credit Company-Owner I started this company to assist families with money problems to be able to procure furniture, appliances, cars, outdoor buildings, emergency small loans etc.

MJM PROPERTIES & JMAR RENTALS- CO-OWNER

Take care of general physical prep and maintaining of buildings and rentals. Do repairs to structures in between renters or lease agreements.

Pikeville Medical Center-Chaplain

I served as a full time Chaplain for 3 years PMC, during which time I visited new admissions both on the floor and in the ER. I helped in ministry to patients and their families by giving council, advice and spiritual insight often encouraging them as they coped with bad news like life changing and limiting circumstances or death and dying scenarios. I served as a confidant and advocate for families in trouble often needing help with food, accommodations or transportation by directing them to resources or distributing help to them from our department’s allocations. I was called upon to conduct religious services and ceremonies and to give talks, prayers, devotions both in print and electronically. I regularly gave speeches and talks for different departments along with lending guidance and assistance to our 3500 member hospital staff and their families. The last year and a half I was assigned to the Trauma and ICU Units to help families and patients as they faced sometimes overwhelming heartache and difficult prognoses.

Personal Statement

I have been blessed over the years to serve in many different ministries and positions such as an evangelist, preacher, pastor, foreign missionary work and board of director’s chairman, CEO, treasurer, facilities manager… etc… but I have always loved to minister to struggling families and individuals. It is a wonderful thing to be able to help ease someone’s pain or situation and I find that to be very rewarding in helping someone get their life back on track. I am looking for opportunities to best serve and make a difference in people’s lives.

During the time of building my ministry I have had the privilege of being able to own and operate several different successful businesses here in Eastern Kentucky. This has given me much insight into how people live and the struggles they often endure. These two endeavors of religious and business have not conflicted but rather have complemented each other by opening doors that would have been otherwise impossible except the opportunities that each afforded to me over the years. Credit, Housing, Property rehabilitation, Property Management, remodeling, disaster relief and ministry help have all been made possible because of the unique position I have as both a pastor and businessman.
