Patient care is my top priority. My purpose and goal as a pharmacist are to ensure my patients know their medications, are aware of any adverse reactions, and feel comfortable asking questions at any time. I take their education as seriously as I take my own; if a patient doesn’t understand, we talk until clarity is found. Without patients, pharmacy has no purpose in the healthcare arena.
Identified causes behind poor service metrics, addressed the causes on an individual basis, and took corrective action, resulting in better and more efficient service for the patients.
Developed more efficient scheduling, matching the patient volume to labor costs – resulting in more efficient operations.
Within six weeks of new management, customer service scores rose by 55%, wait times decreased from 90 minutes to 20 minutes, phone hold times decreased from over 250 seconds to less than 90 seconds, and excess inventory was reduced by over 30%.
Utilizing my healthcare law education from the University of Oklahoma, I trained staff members on HIPAA compliance and Medicare and Medicaid fraud, waste, and abuse.
With the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, oversaw the institution of rapid on-site testing and continuing vaccination programs with each additional vaccine that became available. Trained staff on appropriate vaccine choices and added additional immunizers to the staff members.
General pharmacy duties, including verifying and dispensing medications, overseeing technician work, patient education, immunization, off-site immunization clinics, and medication inventory.
Managerial responsibilities include medication reconciliation, yearly controlled substance inventory, monthly profit and loss analysis, employee evaluation and discipline, daily sales evaluations, third-party claims, and prescription counts.
