Hello, my name is Tammy L. Rivera;

I am a Certified Coder with CCS credential with an AHIMA approved ICD-10 CM/PCS Trainer Certificate. I am currently working as a Coding Quality Specialist for IP/ OP and I am also the principal trainer of all new coders That are hired or current coders who switch chart types and want to be crossed trained. I present educational content to the coding staff and create educational material for them based on the coding team needs or coding updates for both IP and OP. I also do education on audit findings to staff.

I have (13 years plus) experience of IP coding, this includes all types of IP charts including some transplants, like- Orthro, Med surg, Women and OBGYN, Newborn Intensive care, General medicine charts, Trauma’s, Psych charts, Cardiology including open heart procedures, Intra venational Radiology.

On the Outpatient side my Years of experience are OP surgeries (15 years plus), Observations (15 years plus), ER Coding (19 years and counting), infusion coding since they started coding the meds infused, X Rays and ancillaries (19years)

I code the following chart types ERs with E/M level charging for facility with infusions, DSC or Same Day Surgery, Pain Center Coding, Radiology Coding, Iv Fusion and Hydration’s for infusion centers, Eye Surgeries, and Observation charts with charging OBS Hours and Meds, Orthopedics, Ancillary and Outpatient lab visits, Abstracting, and Analysis and Cancer Registry functions. I also can work edits and resolve coding issues and do second reviews for coding correctness.

I have experience with the following Electronic Medical records Systems - Epic, Meditech both versions, Quantum, Cerner power chart, Sovera, 3 M encoder, 360 encompass CAC system, Clin trac, HDM encoder, Mckesson, HPF, Optum computer assisted coding system (Enterprise), as well as Microsoft office suite, SMS, Picis also called Ibex. I can pick up things very quickly and excel from there.

I am a coding resource for fellow coders and well as the billing dept with resolving edits. I have also trained others on the coding systems and answer their questions learning new EMR systems and the work flow on their assignments. I am always willing to help.

I have been trained for ICD-10 and I-10 PCS. I have current I-10 and I-10 PCS coding experience in an acute care environment. I train and also code all chart types and also resolve coding issues. I have obtained my approved status from AHIMA as an Approved I10cm/PCS trainer.
