Wahiduzzaman has more than 25 years’ experience in various field of water sector such as flood risk assessment, sustainable drainage system design, urban drainage feasibility study etc. He has extensive experience in design of filter drain, positive drain, sokaway, sediment pond, gully, road drainage, outfall, open channel, culvert etc using microdrainage software Windes. He has also experience in hydrology, hydraulics, hydraulic modelling, flood management, irrigation improvement, project management, finance management, morphology, sedimentology, hydraulic model review etc
During his career, Wahid has worked as senior urban/roads & highways drainage design engineer, project manager, Senior hydraulic engineer, senior hydrologist, hydraulic consultant, morphologist, senior hydraulic modeler etc Wahid worked as Senior Drainage Engineer in prestigious projects such as HS2 (High Speed Rail), Eurotunnel-Donallds Moor Cargo Turminal upgradation in the UK.
Wahid is worked as a International Urban Drainage Expert (senior drainage engineer) in the feasibility studies of a governance infrastructure improvement project in Bangladesh. On this project he was the team leader for a group of three engineers and his main activities were hydrological analysis, hydraulic modelling, reviewing/checking hydraulic design of canal, culverts, report writing, flood risk assessment. Wahid has also worked for five years as a senior hydraulic engineer/hydraulic modeler at Jacobs Engineering (UK) Ltd in UK. His key responsibility was to lead teams in developing and studying a number of drainage and civil engineering projects and drainage feasibility studies, including hydraulic models for FRA; project management; report writing; and proposal writing. He was also involved in urban drainage feasibility studies and drainage data collection. During that time, he identified possible drainage paths and gave recommendations for drainage strategies and developed 1D and 2D models for Floo Risk Assessment and for a sustainable urban drainage system. Wahid was employed for five years as Technical Officer(Senior hydrologist/hydraulic engineer/advisor/project manager) in the hydrology and flood forecasting team in the Environment Agency in UK. His key responsibilities were evaluating tender document and proposals coming from external consultants; mandate and statement of requirements preparations for the projects; project management; finance management; site visits; coaching and mentoring other staff; developing 1D and 2D models for FRA projects and drainage feasibility studies; organising in- house training on mathematical modelling; hydrology analysis; report writing; liaison with other organisations and attending meetings. He was in charge of reviews of the hydraulic design for culverts, weir, hydraulic gates, canals etc. in respect of catchment hydrologyand hydraulic condition and comparison with the existing design standard. He was in charge of the data collection for the existing urban drainage system and analyses; recommendations for drainage feasibility studies for sustainable urban drainage system; and involved in the development of the drainage systems strategy.
Wahid worked for more than 15 years as a senior/lead hydrologist/hydraulic engineer/consultant on various projects which involved flood control,irrigation and drainage improvement in Bangladesh, financed by World Bank, UNDP, ADB, and JICA. On these projects his key responsibilities were drainage system design, hydrological and hydraulic analysis; Flood Risk Assessment; project management; tender documents and proposal evaluation; option studies; report writing; drainage improvement studies; and liaison with other organization like the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), NGO’s, etc. He has also extensive experience in the use of drainage/flood modelling software like Mike11, ISIS, Estry, Tuflow, Hec-Ras, WINFAP-FEH,GIS, MapInfo, WinDes (Microdrainage Drainge). He has received professional training on hydraulic modelling and has published 23 technical papers in various journals and International conference proceedings
Wahid has good knowledge in PPS25, Flood & Water management Act 2010- section 19 (investigation of flooding), Land drainage act 1991, Design manual for Road & Bridge (DMRB), guideline of Sustaianble Urban Draiange system
