I joined as a learner Mine Technician directly reporting to the underground manager and during that period I received training and gained experience in the mining activities below.

● lashing (stope, drive and raise)

●Drilling machine assistant (stope, drive and raise) which entailed assisting the machine operator in checking for safety, setting up, drilling and charging our allocated ends in development, production and also in drilling and installing anchor roof bolts for support

●Drilling machine operator (Pneumatic rock drill) -

●Shaft crew assistant- maintenance and repairing of shaft work in around the mine shafts and the maintenance and installation of pipes, guides and transportation of heavy material and equipment to and from the underground sections

●Construction crew assistant- involved pipe layout main drifts to working ends, installation and maintenance of water blasts at blasting ends, installation and maintenance of loco tracks, construction of boxes (draw points) and maintenance there-of, installation and maintenance of ladders for travelling ways

●Magazine master’s assistant- Explosive storage, usage and daily distribution with main emphasis on safety. Handling of and destruction of expired and weeping explosives.

●Supervisor-lashing- supervision of lashing crews which involved use of track-bound rocker shovel loading and secondary blasting of any rocks/ boulders as and when necessary.
