I am a positive, hardworking, reliable, dependable, and motivational team worker with an extensive background in clerical support, legal secretary, communications, and customer service. Legal Secretary to senior partner and associate who primarily concentrate on workers’ compensation, insurance defense for personal accidents and major trucking lines/transportation. My duties were transcribing dictation, preparing pleadings and correspondence, filing various pleadings with state, local and federal courts, answering phones, scheduling depositions and appointments, filing correspondence, and outlining/summarizing depositions.
NOTE: I previously worked at this law firm from 2001 to 2008 and left for another opportunity to work at a firm that concentrated on commercial law.
2013-2014 SL Perkins Law Group
Legal Assistant/Office Manager - This firm focused primarily on criminal law. I supervised support staff, interns, light firm bookkeeping, took witness statements for use at trial, interviewed clients for initial visits, court appearances, follow-ups, composed correspondence to clients, courts, and attorneys, typed pleadings for filing for use in various state, federal and local courts, and created trial notebooks. This firm closed in 2014.
2011-2011 McWhirter, Wade & Wyatt, PLLC
Legal Assistant to senior partner who practiced personal injury as well as probate law. My duties and responsibilities were the same as I performed at SL Perkins as well as transcribed dictation, coordinated attorney's calendar for personal and firm business, filing and telephone switchboard duties. I left this firm due to its’ closing.
2008-2016 Ruby Tuesday's Restaurant
I started here part-time to supplement my income, however; in 2008 when the economy took a plunge, so did my full time job at the law firm. I started out as a server, briefly worked as a GSC and later as a full time Prep Cook. My duties included, providing the best dining experience to my guests as their server, taking orders, assisting co-workers in daily tasks, preparing food for evening shift, interacting with customers attending to their needs as well as maintaining professional and courteous service.
Education:
Completed 2 years at the University of Memphis, majoring in Mass Communications with an emphasis on journalism and television reporting.
Obtained Broadcasting License while employed with Clear Channel Radio
