Title – Evaluation of the Performance of various Coolants used in Car Radiators. Following are the Key highlights of the project:
Study literature to understand the effects on heat transfer rate by changing Radiator configuration and addition of Nanofluids in different volume percentages in the Coolant. A comprehensive understanding is developed accounting various parameters such as particle size, volume percentage, inlet temperature, Coolant flow rate, pumping power etc. on overall heat transfer.
Two Nanofluids Al2O3/water and CuO/water are considered for the project.
Three dimensional model of Radiator is created using ANSYS Design modeler and complete thermal analysis is performed in ANSYS FLUENT Software.
Temperature drop is measured between Radiator inlet and outlet for varying fluid inlet temperature from 345K to 375K and fluid inlet velocity from 0.1m/s to 0.4m/s.
Simulation study conforms that maximum temperature drop is obtained with CuO/water coolant system for 0.1m/s velocity. Surface Heat Transfer Coefficient is also calculated from the software for the max. Optimised loadcase.
