I was hired as a full-time teacher in 2001 after two years of working as an Assistant Manager for a global rental car corporation. Instructed low level readers by utilizing a computer based program, The Academy of Reading, which serviced students in grades 5-8. Taught sixth grade language arts for one year until highly qualified process was implemented and I was reassigned to the science department teaching grades K-6. I left Paterson Public Schools in good standing and relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina when my wife’s job was transferred.
Key Contributions:
nEarned high marks for the quality and creativity of classroom teaching, lesson plans and instructional materials used in teaching, hands on project based learning.
nDeveloped and wrote a proposal to revamp the (ISS) In School Suspension, changing it into the Dr. Frank Napier Mentoring Program.
nVolunteered as an assistant coach for the boy’s basketball program.
nConsistently commended for ability to redirect students exhibiting behavior problems by replacing disruptive, unproductive patterns with positive behaviors. Nominated for Teacher of the Year on multiple occasions.
