Correctional Officer

Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:

Overseeing and maintaining custody, care, and control of inmates or detainees of the facility, while enforcing the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the company and contracting agency. Break up physical confrontations and protect inmates and fellow officers from harm.

Provide emergency assistance as needed, including but not limited to CPR, first aid, escape of inmates, and evacuation procedures.

Working at Reeves County Detention Center has furthered my experience physically and mentally. It has also help me develop skills such as to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports, skill in correctional methods, techniques, practices, and procedures, skill to provide leadership and technical guidance to other staff, skill in interpersonal, good judgment, communication, and self-discipline.
