JOB EXPERIENCE
Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant
Holy Family Hospital/ 5633 N Lidgerwood St., Spokane, WA 99208/Dec. 2020-Current
As an inpatient phlebotomist/lab assistant, I am responsible for working with my partner to draw all the labs for inpatients during my shift, including capillary draws on newborn babies. I should also help patients in any way that I can/am allowed to. When I am not drawing patients, I am to be in the lab processing and receiving samples, answering the phone, helping nurses/doctors/techs, packaging samples for shipments out and assisting the medical technologists.
Phlebotomist/Lab Aide
9631 N Nevada St. Ste. 102, Spokane, WA, 99218/ Sep. 2020-Dec. 2020
While working for LabCorp, I shifted around to several different Patient Service Centers (PSCs) in Spokane, but mostly stayed at the PSC in the Northpointe Medical Center. I was responsible for correctly interpreting and entering doctors’ lab orders, which sometimes included searching and/or calling the doctors’ offices for clarification. I would also practice phlebotomy and venipuncture accuracy. I drew all age groups. In addition to phlebotomy and entering orders, I also processed and packaged samples for shipments out.
Phlebotomist
CSL Plasma/ 2126 N Monroe St., Spokane, WA, 99205/ Aug. 2019-Nov. 2020
I was first trained in the reception area, where I was responsible for taking donors’ vitals, weights, temperatures and checking hematocrit and protein levels. I earned my MA-Registration. I eventually ended up learning phlebotomy and earning my MA-P. As a phlebotomist here, I had to stick donors with a 17-gauge needle, ensuring that the plasma machine would both be able to draw blood out, then return the remaining contents of the blood back to the donor after the plasma was extracted. I also had to disconnect donors once the donations ended and set up the plasma machines. I had to monitor donors closely to watch for adverse reactions. In the event of an adverse reaction, I would help them, end the donation early, or seek medical assistance. As a frequent closer, I was also responsible for stocking and cleaning the donor floor.
Shift Supervisor
KFC/A&W/ 2819 E 29th Ave., Spokane, WA, 99223/ May 2017-Aug. 2019
About 3 mos. Into my job here, I was offered a management position. I ended up being officially promoted to Shift Supervisor in December 2018. I had to direct and manage employees/their tasks and breaks, lead in preparing food orders correctly, prep food, ensure other people’s jobs have been completed, deal with customer complaints, count down and monitor money and deposits as well as run the computer programs called “Start of Day” and “End of Day”, depending on which shift I was working.
Team Member
McDonald’s/ 4647 S Regal St., Spokane, WA, 99223/ Sep. 2015-April 2017
As a McDonald’s employee, I had take orders in person and drive-thru, often times while simultaneously working with cash and other customers. I had to keep the kitchen, lobby, Playland and bathrooms clean, work well with fellow coworkers and follow directions. I also had to accurately put together orders, including McCafe drinks. I was a reliable closer, often covering other shifts and “no call/no shows”, and even as a minor, I was working almost 30 hours/week with permission and a flexible schedule.
