As a Closing Team Lead of Speciality Sales I am responsible for the excellent presentation of Style, Beauty and Ulta for our guests when we open the following day.

I initiate and document team member conversations concerning compliance, attendance and performance and I consult with the other leaders in SS about yearly team member performance reviews and monthly check ins.

I inform my team on break times, important news, trainings, safety announcements, missed punches, compliance, extra daily tasks and fitting room coverage times.

My team and I are responsible for backing up Order Pick Up, Drive Up and the check lanes. During their shift they are helping guests in the store and in the Fitting Room. I work with my team throughout the evening and I am in charge of the other departments as well when the other Closing Team Leads are not in the building.

Everyday my team and I show up ready to do the work for us to be successful. I am very proud to be their leader.

As an assistant manager I ensured the ease of customer flow through the store. I was the one creating a smooth yet enthusiastic customer experience from beginning to end and I was always looking for opportunities to better the experience for our customers and employees. I enjoyed teaching new techniques that made the job easier for my team. When I saw them try one for the first time, and it worked, I instantly saw them smile and I knew they were enjoying their day.

With Covid-19 still a health concern I was always prepared for change. As a retail manager, change gave me opportunities to learn new practices and execute them to my best ability. Hy-vee gave me the tools I needed to transition to a higher volume environment.

New Uses

February 2016 - September 2018

I was hired as an assistant manager at New Uses corporate resale retail home store in Minnetonka.

I focused on training full and part time employees to consistently deliver excellent customer service while meeting sales goals.

At New Uses we purchased customers gently used furniture and home goods for resale. Buys would sometimes exceed $1500 on any given day which would go on our sales floor immediately to be resold for a 30-50% profit. Purchased items would be sold within days sometimes hours or minutes.

The stores central location made it easy for customers to unload their gently used items from all over the state. Advertising on Facebook and Craig's List increased sales because of the high volume of consumers visiting those sites. We also sent out monthly mailers to Minneapolis suburbs which reminded customers we were a lucrative alternative to donating their items.

A typical day began greeting customers usually waiting at the door to either sell their items or just cruise our beautifully ever changing aisles. Every day we purchased large pieces as well as small so making sure the stores shelves were organized was challenging at busy times.

Having an excellent crew of associates who took pride in purchasing only the best of the best and merchandising those items properly was the key to keeping the store in customer ready condition. I don't remember a day going by without hearing a positive customer comment or seeing a post online about the appearance of our store and our friendly staff.
