Change…some people run away from it, but I gravitate towards it. A new direction…some people are happy where they are, but I am always looking towards the next chapter. For these reasons I am applying for the position as a Community Support Worker: Community Support for Families (CHR) Community Health Resources, Inc. – Norwich, CT,

Before I stopped working in 2015 to take care of my parents and in-laws, the career I left was as an MRI Technical Training Specialist for an analysis company that contracts with pharmaceutical companies to handle the imaging portion of FDA clinical drug trials. My responsibilities included training both clinical and research sites in the protocols that are designed for a study, load them into the site's scanner, ensure that the sites are trained with strict quality control adherence, and are ready to receive test subjects for the study. I also served as a problem solver when a site had a specific technical issue.

This job took me all over the world to train technologists, traveling approximately 170,000 miles each year. I have found that my strength is the ability to find common ground and engage people so that they feel comfortable and confident while talking with me.

I viewed my training career as one might call a “Bucket List” job and you might be wondering why I am changing directions. While this career was fulfilling, it was also a very encompassing existence living on the road and taking me away from my family for approximately 85% of the year. This career also took me away from the compassionate side healthcare, since it only focused on technical training. I found I missed that part of my career. Therefore, to return to a career that would allow me to refocus my energy in a more patient focused and caring paradigm, is what I seek.

Post 1st wave of the pandemic, I went to work for a property management company. This job offers me a steady income and job security, but my heart is still in caregiving and that is where I wish to be.

I look at life as being a book with many chapters. I had been a world traveler, seeing the world one flight at a time. However, I need to move to my next chapter of returning to a career in caregiving; something that would be so much more fulfilling and give me purpose.

Sincerely,

Mitch
