• Nurse Training & Management: Oversees incoming nurses to maintain hospital and unit-specific procedure and policy adherence. Delegates tasks to unit staff, including charge and registered nurses, orderlies, and non- professional personnel, and reviews status following completion to confirm duties were performed properly.

• Medical Terminology & Communication: Adapts thorough understanding of medical terminology and applications to discuss patient status with physicians and unit personnel. Employs SBAR techniques to communicate effectively during emergency and code situations, resulting in more timely treatment.

• Psychological Patient Support: Provides one-on-one supervision to patients within the psychological unit to provide support and care during treatment and counselling. Observes temperament to ensure the safety of patient, hospital personnel, and self, and de-escalates situations involving assigned patients.

• Treatment & Behavior Response: Monitors patient response to new medications to determine treatment plans with physicians. Immediately reacts to outbursts, patient self-harm, and attacks on center personnel or self to reduce overall harm inflicted, and documents incidents to establish additional security or patient supervision.

■ Admission & Discharge Processes: Orients new patients to units and establishes expectations, focused on medication and equipment required for treatment.
