Professional Experience

HAVTECH, LLC, Columbia, MD – Application Engineer 2015 – 2019

HAVTECH is an international provider of advanced technologies in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, equipment, parts, services, aftermarket, and energy efficiency in buildings and LEED certificates.

Develops and maintains viable long-term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors and subcontractors;

Led teams to managed project turnover processes from equipment sales and equipment order execution to installation and aftersales services;

Interpreted engineering drawings and specifications in order to develop and provide engineered equipment submittals in compliance with contract drawing, site coordination, and site installation requirements;

Working knowledge of Trane Trace 700 in order to minimize building energy use and environmental impact;

Followed standardized off generation guidelines for preparation and processing of engineering submittals, including but not limited to; VRV selection, Air handling selection, coil selection, coil hand coordination, fan selection, chiller performance verification, chiller configuration and option selection so as to match schedule, drawing and specification requirements;

Worked to maximize appropriate additional change orders. Performs associated cost estimates, prepares proposals and works with sales in negotiating final settlement price and customer acceptance resulting from scope of supply changes / change orders; and

Axens Middle East, Kingdom of Bahrain - Technical Service Engineer 2008 - 2010

Axens is an international provider of advanced technologies, catalysts, adsorbents, and services to the refining, petrochemical, gas, and alternative fuel market.

Reported to the Managing Director of the Middle East office. Responsible for commissioning, start-up, and post start-up technical services and providing support to clients in the Middle East.

On-stream process units:

Managed Axens team that led and execute a troubleshooting operation at Sohar Refinery (Oman) and determined the underlying causes of higher differential pressure within the GHDS unit, resulting in catalyst skimming operation to maintain on-specification product;

Assisted and participated in catalyst regeneration operation at Sohar Refinery (Oman) prime-G unit to insure operational safety and catalyst high performance;

Reviewed and prepared special operating procedures to assist ADGAS (UAE) catalyst unloading / reloading operation to maintain the highest safety standards;

Conducted an analysis to determine the possibility of using alternative feedstock for the HDT process unit (KSA) to ensure on-specifications product; and

Assisted clients with day to day unit operation and data analysis to meet units’ production specification.

New process units (Oman and UAE):

Managed the study of P&ID conformity, vessels and internal equipment inspection, and developed corrective action to ensure compliance with Axens process specifications;

Prepared customized procedures, reviewed and approved client procedures for pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up stages to ensure feed / products guarantees;

Managed the installation of the Aromizing and CCR unit internals, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities for adherence to the licensor design and product specifications; and

Provided on-site support for start-ups, trouble shooting, and catalyst/adsorbent loadings for process units to ensure the operational safety and feed / products guaranteed requirements.

Aromatics Oman LLC, Sultanate of Oman - Process Engineer 2007 - 2008

AOL complex is designed to produce 1.0 MMTPA of para-xylene and benzene from SR naphtha and licensed by Axens IFP.

Reported to the Senior Process Engineer. Responsible for the aromatic preparation which consisted of two Naphtha Hydrotreating (NHDT) units, Aromizing unit, and Continuous Catalytic reforming (CCR) unit.

Reviewed the EPC Contractor detailed engineering drawing (PFDs, P&IDs, cause & effect diagrams, operating manuals etc.) for compliance with licensor specifications to ensure on-specification product;

Performed and checked process and hydraulic calculations to ensure compliance with licensor process and equipment specifications;

Performed equipment inspection to meet process specifications and equipment reliability;

Participated in study to examine the effects of SR naphtha feed quality variation from the design base to meet the guaranteed requirement by licensor;

Participated in HAZOP studies for AOL tie-in lines with ORPC and OOTC, and study for hydrogen booster compressor and storage bullets;

Reviewed, documented and updated P&ID’s, piping specifications and sizing, equipment datasheets, and PSV during different stages of EPC contract;

Screened and short listed vendors for catalyst and chemicals procurement to meet project specifications; and

Supervised and coordinated activities related to pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up to meet project schedule and completion milestones.

Life-cycle Cost Estimate College Park, MD - 2013

A life-cycle cost estimate to replace an existing HVAC in residential property located in Maryland

Evaluated the building energy envelop to determine the energy consumption;

Inspected and determined the need to change the duct and the insulation to reduce leakage;

Conducted a cost and sensitivity risk analysis to determine the visibility of the project, which achieved an annual energy savings of $1,248 with payback period of 4.5 years.

Energy Management Opportunity (EMO) College Park, MD - 2012

Simulation of a residential unit to identify EMO in lighting and HVAC system and reduction in the total greenhouse gas emissions

Simulated and implemented HVAC and lighting retrofit to achieve an energy savings of 1.5 MWh/year.

Investigation of the effect of alternative fuels on IC engine

Using EES software to Simulated and optimized the impact of alternative fuels on the performance of the IC engine to evaluate the consumption and reliability of IC engine.

7.5 MWh /annum PV system for a rural village in Africa

Designed, compared and analyzed the production of electricity from solar PV and diesel generator to understand the difference in availability, cost, and environmental benefits.

Designed and evaluated the available technologies for standalone PV systems and selected the most reliable and cost effective option for the project.
