Senior Database Architect

Currently represented in a consulting capacity through Gridbright, Inc providing direct support and leadership with creating, configuring, and successfully implementing an Electric Outage Manage system for the Eversource Energy company. Supported the design and build of the supporting Oracle database environment. This environment was built using 19c Grid Infrastructure/ASM, RAC, Dataguard, OEM Cloud Control 13c, Golden Gate, Site Guard, and WebLogic technologies. The database environment alone consists of over 50 databases and over 120 AIX servers.

Principal IT Consultant

Principal IT Consultant for the Infosys Corporation on the Eversource Energy account in Berlin, CT. Supports large company sponsored projects as a Senior Oracle DBA Architect. Employment at Infosys began when my position as a Senior Oracle DBA Lead transitioned to the newly contracted outsourcing supplier.

As a Senior Oracle DBA Architect, responsible for designing and creating the Oracle 12c database environment that supports the Supply Chain Management project. Designed, created, and configured 25 Oracle 12c database environments residing on 10 AIX servers for the project. Highly engaged with the project leadership team on a regular basis. Directly involved with discussions related to design builds, enhancements, project scheduling, and support requirements.

Primary Oracle project DBA Architect for the recently successfully deployed OMS (Outage Management System) project. Directly responsible for building, configuring, and deploying, 36 Oracle 11gR2 database environments, 6 Oracle RAC 2 node database clusters, 4 Oracle Data Guard 2 node RAC physical standby database environments, 10 WebLogic stand-alone and 6 WebLogic Cluster domains. Managed a team of 10 DBAs and held responsibility for the entire Oracle, MS SQL, and Essbase technologies for the Northeast Utilities Energy Company.

Responsible for key technology decisions and setting direction for the Midrange database environment.

Conducted annual and mid-term reviews, set team and individual goals, directly handled the selection and contracting of supplemental consulting resources as needed.

Managed license purchases, annual maintenance and support fees including the related budget for related database software.

Senior Oracle DBA Project Lead

Directly involved with the Oracle database environment integration initiative between the merged Northeast Utilities and NSTAR corporations. Quickly learned configuration standards and layout of the NSTAR Oracle environment. Helped develop and publish the new hybrid database environment standards during this effort.

Supported several new business project initiatives for the merged operating companies serving as the primary Oracle project DBA. Support included building new Oracle database environments under the 11gR2 version, applying the latest Oracle patch sets, providing direct project DBA support setting up associated support and monitoring scripts including RMan database backups using Data Domain.

Responsible for incepting and developing the Oracle database environment at the Northeast Utilities Corporation. Established configuration standards and supporting documentation. During its evolution responsible for recruiting, building, leading, and mentoring a team of DBAs to help provide ongoing support of the growing Oracle database environment.

Responsible for the initial decision to use Oracle ASM storage for our first Oracle RAC database environment. Recommended the Oracle ASM storage model as the new standard for the Oracle database environment going forward in lieu of previously used Unix File System storage for database file structures.

Directly supported an ASM migration from EMC Symmetrix to EMC VMAX hardware for over 40 Terabytes of storage for all underlying Oracle databases. Also supported a similar initiative to move from EMC VMAX to EMC VPlex.

Provided 24x7 production On Call support for the entire database and related business application systems.

MS SQL Server DBA

With a Sybase background, was able to quickly adapt to a secondary role as a MS SQL Server DBA supporting application request activities as needed. Performed this support role for approximately nine months.

Sybase Database Technical Lead

Held the Lead Database Administrator role supporting the entire Sybase database environment for Northeast Utilities.

Configured a Sybase Replication server environment consisting of 12 Satellite Sybase databases located on 12 servers in various locations throughout the state that monitored environmental data. The data from the satellite sites was rolled up to a central reporting site using Sybase Replication Server Technology. Also configured Sybase Replication Server to support a mobile computer application.

Configured Sybase OMNI/Connect which heterogeneously integrated Sybase database data with DB2 Mainframe data. This design provided a single relational data interface for a key business application.

Managed the entire Sybase database environment providing application DBA support, applying EBF bug fixes, supporting version upgrades, configuring backups, performance and tuning, and troubleshooting.
