The Al Karaana Interchange along Salwa Road provides access to the lagoon as well as the adjacent Al Karaana PTP. The Al Karaana Lagoon site is currently split up into nine (9) separate lagoons; the proposed location for the 3 TSE Lagoons is within the area (minimum surface areas and volumes at maximum water level: TSE 1: 19, 20 ha & 335,900 m3; TSE 2: 17, 02 ha & 591,800 m3; TSE 3: 34, 20 ha & 1,421,200 m3.

Specific Responsibilities:

Design the ROAD for the Projects areas based on DMRB, QHDM and AASHTO standards. The final design was presented in a report and Road typical cross section drawings format.

Project Involved:

Doha North Local Roads & Drainage Program, Doha, Qatar: ARCADIS Consulting Middle East Ltd was appointed as the General Engineering Consultant for Local Roads and Drainage for Area 3 Doha North. The extent of the project area covers the Doha North Drainage Catchment Area as set out in the Public Works Authority Corporate Strategy 2011 2019. Arcadis (Hyder) is one of five GECs providing local roads and drainage services for the Public Works Authority (PWA). The GEC services include, but are not limited to, all engineering activities required to progress works from Concept, through Preliminary and Detailed Design, Tender preparation, Construction procurement and Supervision, and Post Contract services. There are more than 100 projects/packages within this contract and below are three projects brief as samples for the projects I worked on and contributed to:

Al Sheehaniya Main Town: The project is situated approximately 32km North West of Central Doha in Al Rayyan Municipality, within the Qatar Area Referencing System (QARS) Zone 80.

Area A, Al Sheehaniya Main Town, is approximately 303ha in size and abuts Dukhan Road and the associated Al Sheehaniya Interchange from the North West. The Western edge of the site borders with Al Shahania Stud, horse breeding and racing facility. The Southern edge of Area A is adjacent to an undeveloped land. The Eastern boundary, Rawdat Rashed Road, neighbors with Al Shahaniya Industrial Area.

Area B, approximately 97ha, is located about 1.5km to the South East of Al Sheehaniya Main Town, on the opposite side of Dukhan Highway Road. The Southern boundary runs along the existing service road. The Western edge is restricted by an undeveloped land situated next to Arab Agricultural Centre. From the North the site is bounded by the existing road providing access to Roza Hassad flower production facility while the Eastern border, Umm Al Qahab Road, is adjacent to a partially developed housing facility.

UMM Salal Muhamed Phase 2: The DN005 Umm Slal Mohammed Phase 2 scheme is located in the Umm Slal Municipality,approximately 20km to the north of central Doha and within the Qatar Area Referencing System (QARS) Zone 71. The scheme takes in Slal Mohammed and Al Kharaitiyat district.

The site boundary for Phase 2 is defined to the East by Al Shamal Road (Jeryan Jenaihat district); the Southern boundary by the dual access road from interchange N10 (Al Kharatiyat district); the Western side by an open area (Wadi Mazrooah district) and the Northern boundary by dual access road (Bu Fesseela district). The total area of the scheme is approximately 873 ha. The existing site is approximately 35% developed with a mix of existing residential 1 villas and compounds, commercial developments, schools, mosques, farm land, utility plant, park land and open space. The total number of planned plots within the scheme (as detailed by the Policy Plan) is Approximately 2,850 88% of the planned plots are residential. On current MMUP plans 46 plots are not zoned. There are 122 commercial plots, 10 school plots, 3 Government plots, 26 Mosques plots, 33 Open Space / Park / Recreation / Buffer, 84 utility sites and 2 farm plots.

UMM Salal Muhamed Phase 1:

The DN004 Umm Slal Mohammed Phase 1 scheme is located in the Umm Slal Municipality, approximately 20km to the north of central Doha and within the Qatar Area Referencing System (QARS) Zone 71. The scheme takes in Slal Mohammed and Al Kharaitiyat district. The site boundary for Phase 1 is defined to the East by Al Shamal Road (Jeryan Jenaihat district); the Southern boundary by the dual access road from interchange N09 (Al Kharatiyat district); the Western side by an open area (Wadi Mazrooah district) and the Northern boundary by dual access road (Bu Fesseela district). The total area of the scheme is approximately 1200 ha. The existing site is approximately 25% developed with a mix of existing residential 5 villas and compounds, commercial developments, schools, mosques, farm land, utility plant, park land and open space. The total number of planned plots within the scheme (as detailed by the Policy Plan) is Approximately 3,150 80% of the planned plots are residential. On current MMUP plans 46 plots are not zoned. There are 128 commercial plots, 11 school plots, 5 Government plots, 28 Mosques plots, 38 Open Space / Park / Recreation / Buffer and 89 utility sites.

North Road Additional: North Road Additional Work Along with The North Road is the spinal road in the State of Qatar. It serves the vast area from the capital, Doha, to the northern coast of Qatar at Madinat Al Shamal. The road is in the final stages of being upgraded to a 4 lane Freeway,

Lusail Expressway: Lusail Development will be one the largest and most innovative projects in Qatar in terms of total area, investment cost and philosophy, complete with state of the art buildings, services and facilities that will cover a total area of 35 km2 to eventually accommodate 150,000 200,000 people.

Lusail CP4, Gate 2and Northern Construction (Temporary Road): The Lusail Construction Phase 4 is located at the southern part of the Lusail development The Northern Packages are located beyond thee Wadi CP10. They are at different stages of development in the design and construction works. The gate nr. 2 should be relocated and set along the western logistic road at interchange

Barwa Commercial Avene: The Barwa Commercial Avene project is a mixed use development sited in a southern district of Doha and forming the commercial element of the large residential “Barwa City” The project contains five main buildings, types 1 to 5, each with its own architectural style. All five building types contain a ground and mezzanine floor for retail or commercial use. Type 1 has two floors of residential accommodation above the commercial space; types 2, 3, 4 and 5 are designed with two office floors in the upper storeys. The residential accommodation (type 1) is to be fully fitted out under the contract, the office (type 1, 3, 4 and 5) and commercial space is to be built as shell and core only. All buildings have an underground parking level.
