SR-125 Toll Road Design-Build Project; San Diego, California. Segment Design Manager on a 14-km (9-mile), 4-6 lane divided design-build toll road project. Manager on two major design segments, responsible for overall segment design management including budget control and schedule, discipline design management; oversight of final PS&E design, construction plan preparation and design reports, including traffic studies, noise/sound wall study, and aesthetics report in support of final design. Major project segment features consisted of the 8.5 km of 4-lane divided roadway, 5 interchanges, 6 undercrossing bridge structures, 2 overcrossing structures, 9 retaining walls and 3 sound walls. I-680 Auxiliary Lanes; San Ramon and Danville, California. Project Manager on this highway planning project, responsible for overall project management including budget control and schedule, preliminary engineering work, preparation of Caltrans Project Report and overseeing the preparation of environmental studies and public review in support of CEQA/NEPA document. Major project features consisted of the widening of 5.0 miles of existing 8-lane freeway to accommodate additional auxiliary lanes between 4 interchanges, interchange ramp widening, on-ramp metering, one bridge widening, 3800 lf of sound walls and 2400 lf of retaining walls. Fruitvale Ave. Bridge Lifeline Seismic Retrofit; Alameda, California. Project Manager on this bridge seismic retrofit project, responsible for the preliminary engineering, cost estimating, coordination of environmental review and preparation of a Project Study Report, in addition to project management responsibilities. Project consisted of the upgrading of an existing bascule bridge beyond the normal “no-collapse” seismic retrofit to lifeline level which would ensure the continued operation of this bridge after a major earthquake. Major work elements for this 135-ft single leaf bascule span over the Oakland Estuary included reconstruction of trunnion column supports and pinion gears, counterweight restraint, steel casing of marine column supports and footing retrofit, relocation of bridge operator house, necessary no-collapse seismic retrofit of adjacent vertical-lift railroad bridge, and requirements to maintain vehicle and marine traffic during construction. Estimated construction value of $12 million.

West Lane Grade Separation; Stockton, California. Project Manager on this roadway/railroad crossing project, responsible for overall project management including budget control and schedule, preliminary engineering, alternative analysis, cost estimating, feasibility study, oversight of traffic analysis subconsultant, public outreach efforts and provided support services for CEQA environmental studies. Deadwood Tunnels; South Dakota. Project Design Engineer on this highway tunnel project, responsible for preparation of feasibility report and conceptual plans including alternative alignments, cross sections, drainage and cost estimates.
