SUMMARY:

Mr. Abdul Qayoom Soomro has done M.A Sociology from University of Sindh Jamshoro. He is a seasoned development professional with twelve (12) Years’ experience with special focus on project management and Social Mobilization in the field of Primary Education, Adult Literacy, Enterprise Development, Wash, CMAM, ORS, Maternal Newborn & Child Health, Smart surveys, Technical and Vocational Skills Training, Food for Work and General food distribution.

Currently Mr. Abdul Qayoom Soomro is working with The Blessing Foundation in the project of Sindh Enhancing Response to Reduce Stunting (SERRS) in District Shaheed Benazeer Abad as “District Project Manager”.

Recently he worked with Pakistan National Forum on Women Health in the project of Program for improved Nutrition in Sindh (PINS- ER2) in District Sujawal as “District Nutrition Officer”.

He also remained the part of Institute of Rural Management in Project of Technical Vocational and Skills Training (TVST) in District Sujawal as “District Training Officer”. Prior this he worked with Acted International in Project of Humanitarian Aid and Natural Disaster: an impact evaluation in Pakistan in District Badin as “Team Leader” also he worked with Shifa Foundation in Enhancing Food and Nutrition Security and Rebuilding Social cohesion project in District Sanghar as “Project Coordinator”. Before this he has worked with Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur in Standardized Achievement Test project in District Sujawal as “Taluka Coordinator” and before IBA remained the part of Life Improvement Welfare Organization (LIWO) in the Project of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) in District Sujawal as “District Coordinator”. Beside that worked with Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan in Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Project in the capacity of “Behavior Change Communication (BCC) Coordinator” in District Thatta.

Prior to this he worked in Plan International Pakistan in General Food Distribution (GFD) and Food for Work (FFW) as Team Leader and Project Coordinator respectively.

Also he has remained the part of National Rural Support Program in Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Temporary Learning Center (TLC) Projects in District Thatta as Hygiene Promoter and Community Development Specialist. Beside that he worked with Health Education and Literacy Program (HELP) in Nutrition project in District Thatta as Community Mobilizer and worked with National Commission for Human Development in different projects on different Position which include “Master Trainer” in Micro enterprise Development and Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) projects and served as “Local Area Supervisor” in Adult Literacy project in District Thatta.

EXPERIENCE:

Working as District Project Manager with The Blessing Foundation in Project of Sindh Enhancing Response to Reduce Stunting (SERRS) in District Shaheed Benazir Abad (Jul-21 to till a Date)

Job Responsibilities: Guide the Nutrition team in broader coordination with other stockholders i.e. PPHI, DHO and other Social Organizations, Define program implementation modalities (targeting criteria, mobilization modalities, local partnerships, monitoring systems, staff schedules, etc.) in coordination with District Nutrition officer and field team, Ensure quality and integrity of implementation, including adherence to technical guidelines, administrative systems, and established deadlines. Identify and respond to related staff capacity building priorities, Prepare internal and external reports for The Blessing Foundation and donors, including expenditure plans, Define overall Nutrition project implementation plan in collaboration with District Nutrition officer and Field team to ensure the full package is planned, Ensure communication and coordination between the OTC and community mobilization in the frame of Nutrition approach, Develop and maintain (with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning [MEAL] officer) program monitoring and reporting system.

Working as District Nutrition Officer with Pakistan National Forum on Women Health in Project of Program for improved Nutrition in Sindh (PINS- ER-2) in District Sujawal (Apr-19 to Jun-21)

Job Responsibilities: Ensure the CMAM and IYCF Programs implemented in the field as per the project proposal and project work plan, give technical and programmatic guidance to all field staff, Ensure all the components of the project activities are carried out as per national guidelines and with high quality standard, Conduct regular monitoring visit of villages to assess the implementation status of projects activities towards achieving the project objectives in an efficient way, Use the standard monitoring/supervision tools in order to accomplish the nutrition activities in standardized way, Organize periodic review meetings at district level and provide feedback to district nutrition teams regarding program implementation, Prepare monthly progress report and monthly plan in time, Report to Senior Management and Donor as well.
